Are you serious?
Yeah I am.
TBF, T20 is just a format of the game, in which you are meant to slog the ball. No one cares if you judge the ball correctly and hit an orthodox six or do it blindly, what you see is to get runs. Many perform well in IPL, KFC T20 Bigbash, HRV Cup, Standard Bank Pro20, Twenty20 Cup etc etc, but when the same players are executed in OD cricket, they'll turn out to be utter failure as you won't have pressure of scoring runs. You'll try for orthodox shots in OD cricket, where you're habituated to slog the ball blindly. You just go there, mix up orthodox cricket and T20 cricket. If you're luck favors, a new shot will be named on you. If not, you'll be given a name "Unfit for any form."
And especially in IPL, you are meant to hit sixes blindly. If you keep your mind on orthodox shots, you won't have any respect in country like what we all do for some players like Venugopal Rao, Bharat Chipli (in IPL 1). All the people in India wants a sixer from batsman, whom ever it may be. To build up the hype for himself in crowd, a player takes the wrong route by slogging blindly. Fan following will go up. And even the franchisee will sack out the player who's not performing. So, with that tension, they just go for blind shots.
And as said above, when they start playing OD cricket, they just can't resist themselves from hitting big ones! They mix up T20 shots with orthodox shots. If luck favors them, that new shot will be named after that guy. Else, they'll be given a name "Unfit for any form."
And We have clean examples for that. Rohit Sharma plays better T20 cricket than FC or OD! RP Singh plays better T20 than OD and FC.
Manish Pandey plays OD and FC like a maestro, but not T20. The main reason is he is a guy with Normal mood, not aggressive. And thats the main reason why he hit that century against Deccan Chargers last year. If you see that knock, most of the shots he hit were orthodox shots. And If I were the selectors for T20 team last year, I'd have selected a set of orthodox players for last year's T20 WC 'cause the tournament went on on English turf, which is the home of cricket. A good OD player can play any form of cricket on those turfs.
And in West Indies, I'm not aware of the pitches and turfs there, but I'm sure that every ground in the West Indies can be a heaven for perfect OD players.
And I agree with Long Legs. ManP din't had a particular position in Vijay Hazare Trophy. He could have done even well if he was given a particular place.
