Shoaib Malik Steps Down From Captaincy, Younis Khan New Captain

Funny thing is that Younis Khan was taken off field during a match to discuss an emergency meeting. And normally Younis Khan is an attacking captain. It has yet to be seen how things work out now.

'Cricinfo has learnt that the board chairman, Ijaz Butt, summoned Younis from a Quaid-e-Azam Trophy match for Habib Bank at the Gaddafi Stadium for an emergency meeting that lasted approximately 15 minutes.'
Cricinfo - Younis may replace Malik as captain

Brilliant news? Anyway i knew this is going to happen after disappointing series against Srilanka.
I am more happy to see Younis Khan as a captain but at a same time I am not happy that Shoaib has resigned from captaincy.

Finally. Flame goes for a bath.

Time for a change in pakistan cricket. It's been really dull since the time Inzimam retired.

As I said in another forum, PCB just doesnt want to be outdone by the ECB.

I think Younis Khan might be a better captain then Malik. Because, Pakistan was not so good under his captaincy.

What's happening? Does being a Captain burdens you that much? there must be a huge list of captain leaving their post 9all over Cricket)

Will that matter? SM was really a good young captain who was on his way learning. Asif has a slight chance of comebck and Pakistan needs some good Pace bowlers to fill his place

Malik did a horrible job as the Pak captain. He was a shameless coward who never led his team from the front. No wonder the standard of Pak cricket has dropped so much after Inzy's retirement. Best of luck Younis! Now it is upto you to make Pakistan a cricketing superpower again.

Pakistan needs captains who show an aggressive personality, and Shoaib Malik is a complete opposite who is totally quiet, reserved and laid back guy. Under his captaincy, Pakistan have touched new lows and its about time that they get a different captain.

But will Younis stick to the post or will he again resign from it on some grounds or the other? Misbah is another Shoaib type character. These guys play well under other captains, but as captains themselves, they are not that good to lead from the front.

I would like to see the old Pakistan come back to the fore again. I miss those India-Pakistan battles.

Younis has already been captain. Don't see the logic of giving him the captaincy again. Just feel Pakistan should have taken a punt on someone else here, preferably someone young. I'm not exactly up to date with Pakistani cricket, but wouldn't Misbah make a better captain?

Younis Khan is younger then Misbah-ul-Haq. It's just that Misbah-ul-Haq never broke through in the Pakistani team.

And any of the younger players aren't actually sure of their place in their team, so Younis Khan isn't a bad choice as captain for the moment.

They could have supported Malik a little more but hey whatever they think is better for the team. Younis has a chance to become a good captain if he has the support of his players. I don't agree with what Gambino said about Malik becoming a ODI specialist. He is a good player and deserves to be in the test team.

Also hardly Maliks fault that everyone except him and a few other individuals failed in the ODIs. Younis sucked it up big time, Afridi did too, don't even have to mention Misbah, Kamran Akmal tried his hardest to do the worst as usual.
Selectors kept giving him players that haven't done crap in the team for years. I'm talking about Akmal and Akhtar. Shoaib was clearly out of it and not fit to play and Akmals time has long expired.

I just felt that this was extremely funny:

Younis wants 'magical' support
"I will try and fix things that aren't right at the moment," Younis said. "But the boys will all have to get together and wave their magic wands. I can't just wave it by myself. I want our team to be consistent above all, in everything we do and that will require everyone to put their hands up."

Cricinfo - Younis wants 'magical' support

What the hell was he thinking? Magic wands?

PCB - Joke of the century!

Could there be any more foolish board than the PCB...checkout this quote around the sacking of Shoaib Malik:

"We have not sacked him but relieved him from the captaincy," said Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Ijaz Butt. Whats the difference?
