Should Shoaib Akhtar Stay in the Team?

wtf..? mate, till this day, i cannot understand the why shoaibs run up is such a big deal, who cares? thats the way he bowls, if gets tired quickly - he gets tired quickly. his spells are generally very good as he is relatively fresh when he begins due to bowling short spells. how can you say that he should only be brought back if he shortens his run up? thats like saying, only select a particular batsmen in a side if he chooses to use a particular brand of bat.

shoaib aktar is one of pakistans best players at the moment. he has more experience than many of the youngsters who are doing a good job, but experience is always an "up" for a team. yes, pakistan can play attacking, challenging cricket without him, pakistan cricket is not shoaib alone, but the same can be said with any international player.

dropping him in my opinon was a mistake, pakistan cricket will indeed suffer if shoaib doesnt play as often as i anyway feel he should. what if he decides to just walk out on cricket because of all the bull **** that is thrown at him constantly for his actions on and of the cricket pitch? not only will pakistan be losing one of their more experienced players, but they will be losing the fastest bowler in the world. does that not mean anything? i mean, he is only the fastest bowler past and present. zoraxdoom, justify yourself mate, why do you feel as he shouldnt come back? personal hatred for the bloke or because of his cricketing abilities... quite frankly i can only see your reason to be personal because he is a fine cricketer.

yes, he is a show off, but ive said it before - when you can bowl a ball as fast as this man can - you can damn well afford to be one.

this post isnt about my likeing of shoaib akthar either, i just feel as though hes a great player and id hate to think that he wouldnt make a comeback, especially for some of the reasons posted here, particularly yours bobmotty.

do you seriously know what problems he causes for pakistani cricket and to inzamam? due to lackadaisical attitude, he spoils the team atmosphere. due to his run up, he eats up time and most often Inzamam faces the ire and is stripped of his match fees. Why should you have a player like this who doesnt give a damn about his team and is hell bent on his speed?

He should not be in the team until he can prove that he will not break down in the middle of the first or second test of a series, and shows some pride in playing for Pakistan and not for himself. Being the fastest bowler in the world does not mean bloody shi*t, dayne. Brett Lee is the fastest in Australia, how many games (Tests) has he got recently? Okay maybe thats not the best example because Aussies have the best attack and they can afford to leave Lee out, but still its not the pace that matters, its how you are playing for the team. If you are bowling 150mph and the TEAM is suffering, you should be kicked out without any excuses. It is a team game in the end, and was well proven in India without his selfish antics.

You can never afford to be a showman when you are not delivering for your team. Is the objective only to bowl faster than 100mph? I thought it was to win matches for your team. He has lost a lot more than he has won for us. Constantly breaking down in the middle of the games so we are always one bowler short, is that not a problem for you?

The run-up is a big deal because of his propensity to break down every other game. If he is not fit enough then why the hell does he insist on putting that much strain on his body??? Oh wait, I think I have the answer to that... because for 3 or 4 overs, he can bowl close to 100mph which is enough to satisfy people like dayne... to hell with the rest of the game, who cares right?

I am sure Shoaib Akhtar will stage a roaring comeback. Fit Akhtar is an automatic selection for any team. He can tear any batting lineup on his own dont ask me how as he has proved it in past & can no doubt do it again.
England will be touring Pakistan in Nov/Dec 05 & Shoaib would be all set to fire his bazooka's to silence his critics.

I was waiting for Shahid's response. Shoaib Akhtar may be an automatic selection into any team but he is definitely a headache that no team wants.

Rana Naveed is doing an excellent job for Paksitan,Sami is quite decent.
Pak must try & get some youngsters like Umar Gul in the team.

And also Shoaib has a big disipline & attitude problem.Not really a team man.

We dondt really need shoaib, we have no lack of fast bowlers. Sami, Shabbir, rao, rana, Umar Gul, razzaq, and we have lots more in domestic cricket in pakistan...Take Shoaib out for some time then bring him back so he feels like he has to do good.

Sai,He has a great record as a wicket taker againts India and I can understand why some people doesnt want him in the team,
I totaly disagree with people not wanting him in the pakistani line up,I think he is a great bowler and he can take wickets and he is a match winner,Inzamam has his own problems,Who was banned for 1 test match it was Inzamam who throw the cricket equipment disrespectfull into the ground and Shouted to his own player going wild!
Shoaib is not happy because he hasnt been picked for the tour of west indies I can understand his feelings,He has taken 4 wickets in the domestic level and Shabbir who gave 40 runs of 4 overs was picked for the tour but Shoaib Akhtar wasnt even though he bowled beautifully,

Shoaib's an explosive, wicket-taking bowler, who, on his day, can rip through batting line-ups. On the flipside he can be expensive, and does like to pontificate and preen. He needs a strong captain who can handle him well, to bring out the best in him.
