Like the title says,

Players like Shane Bond, Abdul Razzaq, Lou Vincent, Rana Naved and countless Pakistani players must be cursing their choices.

Should they be given a chance to turn their backs on the ICL and join the IPL therefore revive their international careers too?

I know they cant turn their backs on ICL while they are contracted but i think this is the last year of their contracts so should they be told they still have futures in international cricket and all will be forgiven and forgotten if they dont stay with the ICL?

Some of them are too good to be languishing in the in the ICL with rejects and retired players

Can't blame the likes of Bond and Vincent. New Zealand players don't get paid that well.

Honestly a lot of the ICL players are old international's and if they came back may not even be needed as teams have moulded to be without them

Gambino: Man what is your point about the ICL?? You talk about "rejects", at the end of the day its all about MONEY and Financial Security and the more there is out there the more players benefit. You make it sound like it is all rosy and dandy in the IPL, one team dropped 6 guys because they have no further need for them, will they be paid?? Another dimissed a CEO, Dravid is being blamed the the team owner, and if am not mistaken guys are paid based on matches played (correct me if am wrong), e.g. Hab will be paid for two matches, so in the end, financially is the IPL a better event than the ICL?? Can you give a Shane Bond what he is getting, playing or not playing a match in the ICL?? You talk like the ICL is poison to cricket, if such is the case, please say why, explain how the ICL is the worst thing Bond, Vincent and others could have done!
You talk of REJECTS and RETIRED, I mean its laughable at times when you look at the International Superstars in the IPL, being paid big money that cannot score a dozen runs, no wonder owners such as Vijay Mallya is so ticked off.

without Bond NZ bowling is really weak... he is the one who can get a lot of wickets... and i think he is much better than mills... so NZ needs Bond back in the team...

I say yes. A lot of them didn't know what they were getting themselves into. And we want Bond back. Haha. It's a shame to have such wasted talent. I mean. The ICL isn't even very competitive. It's a bunch of has-beens and noobs with a few players like Bond and Razzaq who are really good players.

I think the ICL competition has seen more young talent emerging from India than the IPL has so far.

About has-beens and noobs? Are you kidding me? I think some of the international players in the ICL have shown way more commitment to the league than a few in the IPL who're here purely for money. And I respect them for that purely because of that.

I don't know about the Others, but Shane Bond definitly needs another chance, And im not saying this because im from New Zealand, but Bond was promised by NZC that if he played for the ICL, he could still play for the National team, yet That was overruled by the ICC.

So if Bond furfill's his contract and wans to resign, by all means let him, because he didn't leave knowing that he would be Barred, Where Vincent etc Did.

You know this is becoming laughable. No one seems to be able to say what is wrong with the ICL. It is not a hidden issue, its is well known that, the only reason we are here having this debate is because of the politics in cricket, the IPL, pressed the BCCI, who in turn did the same to the ICC, who in turn did the same to every international board, had it not been for that the ICL would have had just as many stars, past and present and people in here seems to forget that. So the augments are irrelevant because the ICL and IPL are not on level playing fields. And I agree with "harishankar's" comments, the IPL with countless stars, many of whom have delivered very little and at the same time, giving little opportunities to local Indian players, some of these overseas Int'l players have even been captains, so its all about money.

ICL should go on. This way both ICL and IPL will try to outshine each other. That means happy moments for us.

If i'm not wrong, the IPL had given each of these players a chance to join back. However, they said no.
Even R Satish, the ICL India captain, when asked whether he would go back-he said NO ! What is one to make of this ? ICL players no longer interested in playing for their country ?

If this is the case, then they need not be asked again.

You're assuming too much.

Each of these players are obliged to the ICL by contracts.

Plus, playing for the IPL is not the same as playing for your country. There's no earthly reason why the BCCI should ban ICL players from playing for the country.

Cricketers have just made a choice as to which league to join. It's not a conflict between the country and the ICL. It's a conflict between the IPL and the ICL purely because of BCCI's political stance and its high-handedness.
