Show us your desktop

Why? I mean I understand having app icons on a Windows desktop because the task bar doesn't completely replace the dock; but why do you not put your files in there own place? There's about 30 excel spreadsheets there; surely you don't need access to them all at once?

I don't usually use app shortcuts. I'm a keyboard person, I find it faster to WIN+R, and type the program name (Mostly excel, word, notepad, etc), so hardly have/use any app shortcuts anyway.
Most of these files are which I've worked on within the week, or I would require in the week-10 days. I'm very bad at organising my files, and no matter how much I try, I keep getting disorganized in my quest for doing things faster.
Yes, I do not need to work on them all at once, but I would need to access most of them some time very soon.

Unfortunately, I'm so used to my desktop now, I know where each file is, what's above and what's below.

I always find it more productive to have my files on the desktop than in My Documents or elsewhere. I'm usually working on so many things at the same time, it's easy for something to slip out of mind, and if I don't get to see it, I can forget.

It took me 5 minutes to find the recycle bin :/, you must have a great life.
Haha. It's easy really.. Just type R E C, Found it :D

The bottom line is, all of this is because of laziness.

This is mine

I think its not as bad that most of those are documents on your desktop. Applications though I find much easier to open by just pressing win then start typing the application name

You mean this? :p

That is my desktop. It currently has more than 230 items on it, that means, I need 2 screens to access all my icons :p

Haha, I am the exact same with my work laptop. Just this weekend I found 10 icons on top of each other in one corner, so I figured I should organize a bit.

@Abhas, if you store your files in desktop, there's a possibility of losing your files while using system restore. While the files in My Documents are not deleted.

No. All files in the user folder can be backed up. Desktop is part of the user, so anything I've there is the same as putting in my documents.
Besides, I never system restore. Haven't formatted/restored since 2009 (when I bought it).

None actually. I've used Vipre for an year, and avast for some time, but I don't have any installed currently. I exercise caution and don't allow anyone to mess with my computer. Yes, I've had viruses and other malware, but I've always managed to cope with it.

I also recommend spybot search and destroy. It has helped me a number of times.
