SLIDERS - Around the world in 80 pitch sliders.....again

With so many good folk popping their head in to work on test cricket, I figured I may try to branch out to T20, see how some modified, more batter friendly sliders hold up.

Went with a set up I figured I'd win, proved to be the case.

Won the toss and bowled on a standard pitch, restricted them well with a constant flow of wickets.

Had a variety of dismissals, including a hook to deep backward square off a bouncer, a couple caught in the ring, another caught in the deep at cow corner, an LBW and this one that I shared yesterday but always happy to share again cos it looked great!

I knocked off the runs fairly easily, needing less than a run a ball. When I did get out it was generally trying to be a bit more aggressive. I settled down once Kohli came in and was happy to just knock singles into gaps instead.

I'll keep going with this and see what I find, will be a bit of a slow burner I think as something different alongside the work done by others.
Funny, i tried t20 for a change today and loved it, played as England vs New Zealand, i put up 150 and knocked them out for 110. I even took a hattrick with Tymal Mills. I did find a lot of the wickets were shots caught on the boundary but it was really fun. These were also pretty much default sliders, only change was i was using the physics from the Aus Dry/Hard pitch. Really good fun tho and a nice change from playing test cricket

It's an option we can select, but what is a "standard" pitch? What characteristics does it have? Is it an absolute road, or is it more suited to white ball cricket?

It would be nice to find out what it entails, and if it's a suitable pitch for attaching to a part of the world in future versions of the slider spreadsheet.
If regard that question and statement. I think Standard pitch is just what the pitch looks like. I've also noticed that the good length area is fuller then it is a Dry pitch and also there is less bounce in the pitch.

This is Mitchell Starc after 5 Balls of Standard Good Length Balls (With no aftertouch) on a Dry and Hard Pitch

Same thing as before but this time it is on a Standard and Hard Pitch

I'm yet to test spinners so I don't know if a Standard has more spin then a Dry pitch or vice versa.

I prolly should note that I was using your pitch settings when I did that quick test

The ones I went with I knocked up the shot power, aggressive shot power, stuff like that.

Then ended up in a situation where I didn't really need to hit boundaries ha

Need advice - What sliders need adjusting to make the ball come onto the bat a bit faster , is it speed max or visual speed, also can you remove the colour marking around the ball and just have pitch marker , I tried removing pitch marker length display but still get colours indicating length ?

Min max speed will make the ball zip a bit more. Raising both sliders will do it. Visual speed isn't something I've tinkered with yet but may well achieve the same thing without the need for changing anything on the physics side.

The marker displays will probably be in the general settings menu. I'm not in front of my PS4 to check but if you've looked thru there (from the main menu rather than in game) then I'm not sure if you can turn it off at present.

Cheers, I’ll have a tinker and report back

You can change the colour in accessibility settIngs.

Tried the sliders in the spreadsheet for England at Old Trafford vs New Zealand. Bowled first and liked how the swing looked and the ball carried. Drew quite a few plays and misses, although the AI are perhaps too accurate at knowing when to leave on the 4th stump line.

Didn't manage to create many chances at all though (just 4 or 5 big safe edges) and all 6 wickets I took were run outs from fine leg.

I just throw to the keeper's hands in this situation. It's killer otherwise.

Surprised you didn't pick up some wickets tho

I have the problem of the AI freaking only knows one shot. A flick down the Fine Leg. Even if I put a fielder in Short Fine Leg they still play that same shot. I have to bowl wide of off stump to stop playing that shot which is really annoying cause that means the only wickets I am getting are either run outs or catches. I feel like I am playing a different game to everyone else

Having a go at the Gabba with the Australian settings. Not really sure with what I have here is good. Only my first proper go with the game, batting I felt was good. I made mistakes and was 228 all out with England. Bowling I usually really enjoy but I’m not getting anything right now. First two wickets were me not realising the run out situation. Ok don’t throw to stumps on the mini game. 2 further run outs which were genuine. Only non run out was where I bowled Head.
Currently Smith and Carey are in and just batting away. I upped the ideal timing to just give me a break as I was getting so frustrated.
I’ve had probably 4 edges in total with 76 overs and they sailed to the boundary. I know the pitches are harder in Australia and batting tracks really. Australia’s 295 now so see how it goes.

Finally decided to buy the game, so looking forward to testing out the sliders that have been compiled into the spreadsheet. Some promising signs from the scorecards @Rumple43 and @WealeyH have shared, and I know you two in particular have been working really hard with this. I'll get onto a test match later in the week, hopefully have some fun and share the results with you.

I don’t have the run out issue .. which is an odd thing to say.. the Australian slider was to create good decks that gave the bowlers not much.

I have had sessions like you where they hit 552/9 but after three tests I have had

552/9
62/1
375
225
472

Currently 1-1 in the series.

Probably more fun to have with the lower skilled teams I have been fiddling with. Although something popped up that was particularly interesting. All just depends how much you want to adjust prior to a series!

Ok makes more sense. I may just tweak the ideal bowling time back down a bit for my liking but I was only moving 10 or so anyway.

Warner went for an ambitious double and it was an easy run out. Suppose it’s still early days for me so wanted to sure I was on the right path.

I use manual fielding which I think helps in the shitty run outs!
