I created my own sequence based on the released players and other players in demand, and ran my own auction using a Random Name Picker. That was basically a random draw of different teams that were input into the list, that went on until "None" ended up as the draw, and the player going to the last team that was randomly generated before the "None".

Key Buys-
  • CSK managed to grab both Head and Starc, and also Shahrukh for their middle order, and then Harshal Patel. They also got their only associate player in Meekeren
  • DC wanted to build a pace factory buying 3 pacers in a row from Tyagi to Nagarkoti, then they snapped some late overseas players at base
  • GT made some uncapped Indian buys then bought 2 OS spinners to add to Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmad already
  • KKR bought back Manish and Cummins, and also got Holder and Jhye
  • LSG got Umesh, Dayal and WC star Madushanka
  • MI made good buys like Smith, Woakes and also got Lord Kedar and Unadkat
  • PBKS got Shardul for cheap
  • RR spent all on Indian batters then went for BBL star Spencer Johnson and the Legend Bas de Leede at the end of the auction at base prices
  • RCB went mad to get Wanindu back, for some reason got Brook and Mitchell to add to that. Then got 3 Indian pacers
  • SRH bought Rachin for cheap then spent on Rassie for 13.25 crores (the highest price in auction)
MI spent all but 10 lakhs of their purse and finished the first, while GT had 21.45 crores left at the end. MI also didnt exhaust their overseas quota and got only 7.

If I had to pick my strongest XI for the sides after the auction

:nzf: :bat: Devon Conway :os:
:ind: :bat: Ruturaj Gaikwad
:eng: :ar: Moeen Ali :os:
:ind: :ar: Shivam Dube
:ind: :ar: Shahrukh Khan
:ind: :ar: Ravindra Jadeja
:ind: :wkb: Mahendra Singh Dhoni :c:
:nzf: :ar: Mitchell Santner :os:
:aus: :bwl: Mitchell Starc :os:
:ind: :bwl: Harshal Patel
:ind: :bwl: Deepak Chahar

:ind: :bwl: Mukesh Choudhary (IMPACT)
In an alternate universe, both Mukesh and Pathirana are benched as CSK have acquired Harshal and Starc. Shahrukh has taken over Rayudu's job at No. 5. Head might be an attractive option for CSK if Moeen is no longer in form. And of course, they bat till 11. Mukesh comes in for the bowling innings, so this is a batting team.

:aus: :bat: David Warner :os:
:ind: :bat: Prithvi Shaw
:aus: :ar: Mitchell Marsh :os:
:ind: :wkb: Rishabh Pant :c:
:ind: :ar: Lalith Yadav
:sri: :ar: Dasun Shanaka :os:
:ind: :ar: Axar Patel
:ind: :bwl: Kuldeep Yadav
:saf: :bwl: Anrich Nortje :os:
:ind: :bwl: Khaleel Ahmed
:ind: :bwl: Mukesh Kumar

:ind: :bat: Sarfaraz Khan (IMPACT)

In another world we see Lalith Yadav at No. 5 newly for DC, while Shanaka also boosts their middle order coming at 6. With Sakariya and Nagarkoti back, and Tyagi too in DC colours, they have a loot of options for the last 2 Indian pacers, but they might still stick with the duo that worked for them. Of course this is a bowling team, and Sarfaraz replaces any of the bowlers for the batting innings.

:ind: :bat: Shubman Gill :c:
:ind: :wkb: Wriddhiman Saha
:nzf: :bat: Kane Williamson :os:
:ind: :bat: Sai Sudharsan
:saf: :bat: David Miller :os:
:ind: :bat: Abhinav Manohar
:ind: :ar: Rahul Tewatia
:afg: :bwl: Rashid Khan :os:
:ind: :bwl: Mohammed Shami
:ind: :bwl: Mohit Sharma
:ire: :bwl: Joshua Little

:ind: :bwl: Ravisrinivasan Sai Kishore (IMPACT)

In this auction fantasy, GT will go with Abhinav Manohar at 6 after the departure of Hardik (probably what they would do IRL as well, tbh). They might have to really bring in Sai Kishore or another bowler as an impact player if this XI plays, as Tewatia as 5th bowler is impractical and they will miss Hardik's bowling.

:afg: :wkb: Rahmanullah Gurbaz :os:
:ind: :ar: Venkatesh Iyer
:ind: :bat: Shreyas Iyer :c:
:ind: :bat: Nitish Rana
:ind: :bat: Manish Pandey
:ind: :bat: Rinku Singh
:wi: :ar: Andre Russell :os:
:wi: :ar: Sunil Narine :os:
:aus: :bwl: Pat Cummins :os:
:ind: :bwl: Harshit Rana
:ind: :bwl: Varun Chakravarthy

:ind: :bwl: Suyash Sharma (IMPACT)

In our imaginary world again, KKR will have to open with Gurbaz who will also keep wicket. The addition of Pandey at 5 adds batting depth, while they might have to use the impact player rule to swap him out for Suyash Sharma in the bowling innings. Harshit Rana starts as the Indian Quick as they have purchased no one better in the auction

:ind: :wkb: KL. Rahul :c:
:saf: :bat: Quinton de Kock :os:
:ind: :bat: Devdutt Padikkal
:wi: :bat: Nicholas Pooran :os:
:ind: :bat: Ayush Badoni
:aus: :ar: Marcus Stoinis :os:
:ind: :ar: Krunal Pandya
:ind: :bwl: Ravi Bishnoi
:ind: :bwl: Umesh Yadav
:eng: :bwl: Mark Wood :os:
:ind: :bwl: Mohsin Khan

:ind: :ar: Deepak Hooda (IMPACT)

Our pretend-LSG team looks almost the same as what you would expect the real one to. That one spot for the pace bowler is occupied by Umesh Yadav who will assist Mohsin as Avesh is now in RR, while Hooda or another batsman could be expected as impact player in the batting innings.

:ind: :bat: Rohit Sharma :c:
:ind: :wkb: Ishan Kishan
:ind: :bat: Suryakumar Yadav
:aus: :bat: Steve Smith :os:
:ind: :bat: Tilak Varma
:ind: :ar: Hardik Pandya
:aus: :ar: Tim David :os:
:eng: :ar: Chris Woakes :os:
:ind: :bwl: Piyush Chawla
:aus: :bwl: Jason Behrendorff :os:
:ind: :bwl: Jasprit Bumrah

:ind: :bwl: Akash Madhwal (IMPACT)

The new look MI team after the mock auction sees them stronger than ever, Smith at 4 and Hardik at 6 with David providing finishing down at 7, while Woakes and Behrendorff charge with the new ball and Bumrah at the death. You have Akash Madhwal as a certain impact player to be used when the innings is for bowling. Hope MI genuinely don't get this good IRL.

:ind: :bat: Shikhar Dhawan :c:
:ind: :bat: Prabhsimran Singh
:eng: :bat: Jonny Bairstow :os:
:eng: :ar: Liam Livingstone :os:
:ind: :wkb: Jitesh Sharma
:eng: :ar: Sam Curran :os:
:ind: :ar: Harpreet Brar
:ind: :bwl: Shardul Thakur
:saf: :bwl: Kagiso Rabada :os:
:ind: :bwl: Rahul Chahar
:ind: :bwl: Arshdeep Singh

:ind: :bat: Atharva Taide (IMPACT)

The PBKS side after our mock auction features Shardul alongside Arshdeep in the Indian pace battery, returning to his old team, while Rabada and Curran are the overseas quicks. Clearly it's a bowling oriented side so Atharva Taide would come in as impact player for the batting innings.

:ind: :bat: Yashasvi Jaiswal
:eng: :bat: Jos Buttler :os:
:ind: :wkb: Sanju Samson :c:
:ind: :ar: Riyan Parag
:wi: :bat: Shimron Hetmyer :os:
:ind: :bat: Dhruv Jurel
:afg: :ar: Mohammad Nabi :os:
:ind: :bwl: Ravichandran Ashwin
:nzf: :bwl: Trent Boult :os:
:ind: :bwl: Yuzvendra Chahal
:ind: :bwl: Avesh Khan

:ind: :bwl: Prasidh Krishna (IMPACT)

Fixing RR's No. 7 conundrum is one of RR's last 3 buys in our mock auction, Mohammad Nabi. The fact that they have 3 spinners in the XI does not matter as the impact player rule helps to bring Prasidh Krishna in the bowling innings and have a 3 pace 3 spin attack. If it's not a spinning surface, Bas de Leede could feature in his first IPL XI.

:saf: :bat: Faf du Plessis :c: :os:
:ind: :bat: Virat Kohli
:ind: :bat: Rajat Patidar
:aus: :ar: Glenn Maxwell :os:
:nzf: :ar: Daryl Mitchell :os:
:ind: :bat: Mahipal Lomror
:ind: :wkb: Dinesh Karthik
:sri: :ar: Wanindu Hasaranga :os:
:ind: :bwl: Mohammed Siraj
:ind: :bwl: Ishan Porel
:ind: :bwl: Vyshak Vijaykumar

:ind: :bwl: Karn Sharma (IMPACT)

If we were going by T20 skill strictly, Daryl Mitchell would start above Green for RCB in our imaginary universe. Not to forget he fits better at 5 as well. This is clearly a batting heavy team and Karn comes to assist Wanindu as spinner in the bowling innings. The RCB pace attack looks very junior though, might not be very helpful in Chinnaswamy.

:ind: :bat: Mayank Agarwal
:ind: :ar: Abhishek Sharma
:ind: :bat: Rahul Tripathi
:saf: :bat: Aiden Markram :c: :os:
:nzf: :arwk: Glenn Phillips :os:
:saf: :wkb: Heinrich Klaasen :os:
:ind: :ar: Washington Sundar
:ind: :ar: Shahbaz Ahmed
:saf: :ar: Marco Jansen :os:
:ind: :bwl: Bhuvneshwar Kumar
:ind: :bwl: Umran Malik

:ind: :bwl: Thangarasu Natarajan (IMPACT)

The SRH team looks more settled than ever in our imaginary auction world, while also not using any players from the auction. They however have Shivam Mavi and Kaul as backup options if Umran leaks too many runs. This is a batting side so Nattu comes in during the bowling innings. Rachin and RvDD are on the bench, classic SRH relying on overseas power (before finishng last)
