Sorry England...but your no chance in hell

I think Australia will win 5-0 unless they win 4-0 and then rest some of their key players. England have been playing the quality of opposition of West Indies, New Zealand and South Africa. 7 of their 12 wins have come against West Indies. West Indies are rated 8th in the world. Out of 10 teams. That should speak volumes without my need to interpret. New Zealand are not much better at rank 7 while South Africa are rank 6. Great wins, those.

Australia has beaten everyone everywhere, having conquered the final frontier (India) quite comfortably. They are quite correctly and easily the best team in the world. England may get a few good sessions, but they'll never be able to win a series--yet. However, this prospect cannot be ruled out in the future. A lot of the Aussie team will leave together, and such inexperience in the international level will cause some problems for the Aussies.

Its started already, the "We can win the ashes" articles. I love this time of year, seeing them get their hopes up and everything.

YES!even though i don't support aus,it's just natural to love watching the poms get themselves all worked up about winning the series when in actual fact it's hard to see them wnning a test.

If Bradman had started his career 30 years earlier the above would be accurate.

Nevertheless he is easily the greatest batsman to have played the game. Anyone who says otherwise just doesn't know cricket.

I don't think he's the best player ever though, thats Garfield Sobers.

Lol. sorry bout that. Bit of inaccurecy at my part.

well looking at the way the English are performing, after a long time one can await an interesting Ashes...thats all I can say...personally I don't see Aussies losing unless Freddie can pull of Botham(81 or 82) like stuff...these aussies are just too good...

also as the discussion has veered towards the best player or batsman in history...well on the grounds of records, stories and feats SIr Don beats every single one...frankly he must have been a treat to watch...i personally believe in my id...no player in the history of the game has carried a burden of such huge expectations and has come good as many times as sachin has...well many of u may not be able to identify with what i am saying just coz its different in ur countries with ur cricketers...well if he had played tennis or golf as well as he bats then his records surely would have been unachievable...cricket being a team game the story does look a bit different...

and if we look at abilities and cricketing brain then I agree no one can pip Sir Grafield Sobers as the best cricketer ever....

You Aussies are the ones going on about how you're going to win at the moment, most of us English on here have accepted that Australia are going to win, but you still feel the need to go on about it, WHY!?

Ok i know england have a VERY minor chance, PS i have all faith in england they will win being a die hard fan, but u aussies here are like i love this time of year and stuff well if we beat you know then jus imagine how sweet that would be for us, you are over-confident guys, we DESTROYED you in the ICC Champions trophy, yes DESTROYED, DESTRYOED DESTRYOED DESTRYOED DESTRYOED DESTRYOED and dont date back to previous ashes kos they were too long ago, england have a completely new side to then

In conclusion im not saying ENGLAND ARE GOING TO BEAT THE AUSSIES, i am saying however we have more of a chance then ever and if we do win(back me up english guys) we will have no mercy on slaughtering you :):):) So i reccomened you be more humble else you might be setting yourselves up for the biggest slaughtering of fans ever!:):)x

Jarryd doesn't represent the views of all Australians you know

@Will- You spelt destroyed wrong four times

England don't have a good chance of winning the ashes,, They've lost it like 7-9times in a row?. The last time they beat Aus in a test series was in 1986. England are finding some form against weak teams, but they really havn't had to play a quality side.

You can only play and try to beat the team you are facing, however 'weak, out of form, inexperienced' they may be. Winning any Test match (bar v Bangladesh?), takes a good team performance against whoever you're facing, and you can't take away the fact that England were the only unbeaten Test side in 2004. When the Aussies beat a so called 'weak' nation it's not seen as how poor the opposition are, but how good and strong the Aussies are. Why is that?
Having said that, you guys (Jarryd, sachin) who are stating obvious shyte that England fans are giving it the biggun haven't read the views of most English fans on this forum. It's been said time and time again that we know that we are the underdogs, we know that we'll probably lose, but we have got the best team going into an Ashes series (bar injuries between then and now) for a long time, which will hopefully, hopefully provide for a better, closer series than recent Ashes series. And one things for sure, if the unexpected does happen and England pull off a series win, as Will P said, you Aussies are going to know about it big-time ;) .

And Brad, I agree that ppl like Jarryd don't represent the views of most level-headed, reasonable Aussie cricket fans. But ppl like him tarnish the rest and will make it all the more sweet when, (and it will be when; maybe not next year or even the next Ashes after that, but one day in the not too distant future) England do win back the little urn.

Mate, England doesn't even play a full test schedule. Who did they play this year? W.I once away, and again in england, and n.z at home. Thats it?. Really nothing compared to the aussies schedule, which included playing srilanker away and at home, playing india in india, and newzealand @ home. West Indies are a minnow team for a start. and you beat n.z at home, wow~. England did what they were meant to do, it's not hard to expect your team to beat minnows in westindies especially how **** and out of form they've been. Anyway, of course england has a chance, just a very slim one.

i'd be happy to see eng win but at the same time not,the aus eng rivalry is still there.i'm no expert on the english bowling attack but if harmison can't take big bags of wickets, who's going to bowl aus out.surely not giles.and alot of the aussie commetators down here say that the other eng bowlers primerily bring the ball in,and that (supposedly) won't get the aussie batsman out.and i will also add that all the cricketing people i know, beleive eng will have no chance, that is why i say (because i'm used to it)eng will loose with such confidence.
