South Africa Racial Quota row

Well its been 3 days since the news came out that the squad announcement for Bangladesh tour of SA has been delayed due to the racial quota in selection of team.

The coach and the senior players of side want to continue with similar squad for Bangladesh as that would give them practice before tour of India and also after that they will be taing on England and Australia hence they do not want to break rhythm.

On the other hand the board president wants young squad which can have some promising colored players to give them taste of international cricket.

This fight has got ugly now with SA coach Arthurs accusing board president Norman Arendse. "Yes, there is animosity between us," Arthur told Supersport. "I told him he was power-crazy and egotistical but I never swore at him.

Positive discrimination in action. Part of me doesn't blame South Africa because they are trying to make up for all the ****ed up stuff they did in the past, but the rational side of me says "get over it, pick the squad you want"

Ultimately Positive discrimination is just racism under a pretty banner.

It really baffles me though, can anyone see a similar system in place in any other ICC country? Zimbabwe is an odd issue, they don't have one in writing, but most would say they have one.

Would England/Australia/New Zealand be able to say "No blacks or Asians"?

Ask yourself that, we all know the answer, except the ICC. South Africa is farcical country. God knows why they have any ground to stand on, in any sport.

I'm all for Racial quota in th SA team. t means they'll be worse. Obviously when you have to pick certain amounts of each colour you're going to be taking people not as good.

The whole race thing is taken too far by some people/in some places.

Let me just be honest most black people in SA doesn't like playing cricket, even from a young age , but some do , but not all of them are good , and we dont have alot of Black players in our domestic teams...

Probaly the best other race players whe have is Prince , Amla , Ntini, Dumminy, Gibbs

Black athletes have a head start from gene's do they not? They have more muscle twitch fibre or something. Makes you run faster. Nevertheless they still all have to put the work in the same as everyone else.

Well his test form was poor, but theyll pick him again for the ODI side, and if he continues making runs in the ODI side he might get seleceted in the test side again.

Black people have a shorter effector muscle (though to be precise I should say brown as the Aborigines are the only true black race on the planet), anyway I did go over this before a few months ago with Hooper. Though being able to run quicker is an advantage, Cricket isn't all about sprinting is it?

Interesting point though Hooper, can't see how it could ever be proved or disproved though.
