South Africa Racial Quota row

I can see the reasoning behing the quota system, although I instinctively dislike it. Equal oppertunities should exist everywhere, especially sport, and the best team should always be picked. Given South Africa's past, it would be nice if it included a mix of backgrounds, but picking players on skin colour is wrong, full stop. The South African cricket authorities would be better off encouraging young coloured players into cricket and providing the equipment and support for them to make the national team on merit, if they are good enough (and some of them are - Ntini's fallen off a bit lately, but there was a time he was one of the world's leading bowlers).

sports is about talent and ability,it has nothing to do with race or colour.....and no quota system should exist.

It was fine. It was good, it built bridges for a while. But its a couple of decades since Black Vs White was a big issue in South Africa. I know it still is, but there isn't a government racism anymore. They've evolved past having to put some black players in to make themselves look good.
