This is the happiest day of my life, I think South African sports administration is finally seeing the light. Quite a few Kolpak players kicking themselves right now....

Shame Pietersen is in the England team or SA would have pwned even more!

Nice to hear this, so does this mean there wont have to be 15 white guys and 15 coloured guys in the SA squad?

I don't know the full story but anyway. Teams should be picked on skill and not skin colour.

yeah well I dont buy into it all. It isn't going to stop the racism, but yeah the quota was really stupid.

Racist selectors (not saying there is any) would be loving this though they'd be thinking "now we dont have to pick a certain amount of the colour we dont like.." not saying that will happen but it could do.

Finally. Everyone knows my views on it, and I'm glad for the people of South Africa that this vile system has finished. I wonder if it'll work how we hope it will.

Well there always had to be so many black players in the cricket teams and rugby teams but why not any white players in the soccer teams ,because all our soccers teams here is all black , maybe 1 or 2 players thats white.

Colour never ever comes in to selection, when it does, teams shouldn't be allowed to compete. Or countries win World Cups...

yeah but the reason he said that was because of the good performance of the rugby team in WC wich mostly had white players in it.

These kind of attitudes really don't help the situation. Skin colour has no relation to talent, the South African team had good performers who are black and good performers who are white. Will the rules change and the attitudes stay stale?

Skin colour does have relation to talent.

Sprinters - predominantly black athletes (because of fast twitch muscle fibers, I think)
Swimmers - predominantly white athletes.

So there you go.....

That's physical talent, not in technical talent though.

Out of interest and to find out more about the situation, I've PM'd a board member on another board who's a (now retired due to MS) Paramedic/paramedic practitioner, ie, out of hours surgeries. I await his reply with intrigue.

That's good to see, the main concern was for Rugby. I think they wanted 5 of the starting 15 being coloured.
