South Africa's tour of India - October/December 2015

It would have been a great idea had India kept Harbhajan for the tests. I see no point in playing three spinners and two fast bowlers when SA can easily play the fast bowling. India should use their strength and play with four spinners and one fast bowler. Four spinners should be Ashwin, Harbhajan, Jadeja, and Mishra. SA players were brought up on pitches conducive to fast bowling so they don't have issues with our fast bowlers and especially because their line and lengths are just horrendous. If SA can play against four quality spinners and win a test match in India then I could say that they are a real quality side.

4 spinners is not going to happen. 3 spinner and 2 seamers (if Jadeja is one of the spinners) could work. Jadeja is by far the leading wicket taker this Ranji season, and could be in the side. I dont know when the test side will be announced or if it has been announced, but Jadeja could be there. If it has been announced and Jadeja is not in it the its another thing.

The test side is already announced. Jadeja has been selected in the test side. He will very likely play as the 7th batsman and the third spinner.

On the practice game - lets not get excited too early about Shardul Thakur and Nathu Singh. There has been a lot of painful history about us getting excited too early about some fast bowler only for them to fade away too quickly or not even make it above their current grade. We need some good bowlers for the shorter formats who can not sacrifice pace and yet keep control over the run flow. For tests, our current pack of Ishant, Yadav, Shami, Kumar are already decent to good.

I honestly think India need to step up the game, as shown in the ODI's, South Africa is looking like the better side with more confidence.

Pandhya is surely someone to keep an eye on.He has been performing with both bat and bowl for some time now.It would be good if he is provided with some more opportunities.

No! He's still half cooked. He needs to be resilient while batting. The best thing will be to draft him in India A and check how he does against emerging players of other teams while coaching under one of greatest resilient batsmen of the game, Rahul Dravid.

I came to know about him by you when we were managing MI in Raghu's league, at that time I thought what soever you may be talking about. But when he played those Match winning innings against KKR and CSK, I realized why you took him. It's a good idea for playing him in India A for 9 months or a year may vbe then he could emerge as a perfercvt no 6 and fourth/fifth seamer.

He could be considered to be the big hitting allrounder.Of course he needs to be tested but he should not be made to compromise his attacking batting.Remember his 61* in IPL?

He did well yesterday against SA hitting 6 4s and 3 6s in his stay of 47 not an finished article but anyday over bunny,

I remember dhoni doing the same in a tour match where he hit some 34 against SA with the likes of pollock ntini in quick time with 6 4s in tha innings that caught the selectors eye

Ohh Don't call him bunny, Please. He is the best allrounder available right now.

Yeap, leaving everyone behind. Bunny (uff typo), is the best...

Yeah I agree with you. First of all he doesn't even have the right to criticize MS Dhoni because I don't think he was a better cricketer than Dhoni nor did he have such a successful cricket career like Dhoni so he should just shutup and not talk crap about Dhoni. Manjrekar and Bhogle are both unecessary commentators and probably the worst.

I don't think you need to be a great cricketer to be a great broadcaster. I don't agree with that. It's your opinion, ok. For my money, Harsha Bhogle would be a sure candidate for top 3 broadacsters/commentators in the world. I don't want to talk further about Manjrekar because I don't like to 'hate' people and over the days I feel I hate him with a passion. So I will let it subside to normal before the tests begin. But a dogs tail seldom changes shape. So I'm sure he will talk rubbish and I will hopelessly criticize him on jobless days.
