South Africa's tour of India - October/December 2015

Is it me or does that pitch look a LOT brighter now? I think when SA were batting the pitch at both ends looked dark and dusty, but suddenly both ends now I feel look a lot brighter.

Anyway India have looked largely untroubled in this partnership. Oh Dear, did I just jinx it :P

I wonder what Elgar feels about the wicket now, having seen these two put on a largely untroubled 90 run partnership.

I think India on top. I was disappointed with India in the 1st innings, as it was no way a 201 all out wicket. Indian batsmen played some very poor shots to get out. With more application, one could bat and bat easily, as Pujara showed along with Vijay.

I never thought I would see Pujara hitting a six off the last over in the day.

Do you guys think that even a big total, say 300, can be chased by SA knowing FAF and ABD's history of playing in 4th innings? Last time in Durban ( I think, not sure) SA almost chased a big total set by India. Still can't forget that amazing innings by FAF and ABD.

this time will be difference for SA to chase whatever score set by India, specially in spinner friendly pitch...

It was a totally different wicket. On this pitch, a target of 250 would be good enough. However, I still feel India should bat the whole day tomorrow as it's just day 3.

It will most definitely be an interesting match! RSA Vs India has and always will be one of the most anticipated Test series. Most South Africans see it as a sort of Ashes series when this two countries meet. And as a South African, we are always vary off the spinners in the India team... because as we all know.... South Africa is not genuinely good at playing spin .

Thx for this info. I had no idea, that a series against Ind was seen as an Ashes type contest. With India the key rivalry will always remain Pakistan, but In India we look forward to facing SA of course, as SA are indeed among the top sides in the World. Lets hope Gandhi Mandela series develops into something as big as the Ashes sometime soon.

I would go with Rahul too. Dhawan has been given a fairly long leash including the ODI series. And he just looks absolutely out of form, more than anything. So he better head down to his Ranji team and work things out.

We cant really afford to have a walking wicket in the second test as well

I can just say Ashwin you beauty! Jadduji washed his hands in the flowing Ganga to be back in the team. Something near 300 or 325 should be an easy game for us, but we all know Cricket is an unpredictable game with SA being the most unpredictable.

BTW, pitch complaints are totally unwarranted. It is definitely a slow, low, turner but with proper application we can see that runs can be scored. Amla, ABD, Pujara, Vijay will testify. Nowhere close to a rank turner or a dangerous wicket.
