Spot Fixing Scandal Thread: The Legend Continues

Ijaz Butt's masterplan has worked! He slings some mud around, gets the English boys all tangled up in their panties (they were "very absolutely outraged" according to Strauss - come on, Andrew, pick one! You can be "very outraged" or "absolutely outraged." "Very absolutely" just sounds funny), and it distracts them enough to play hideously and lose. I bet while Bresnan was offering Razzaq dollies instead of trying to knock his head off his shoulders with bouncers, Butt was cackling away in his palace somewhere.

Sure, it can get him sued for all his worth, but those are just minor details! All for the fatherland!

103/5 to 201/6, I can't see where this deliberate throwing of the match took place. England collapsed, sure, but they have done so before and will do so again. I've long maintained England get to 100/0 and then lose 2-3 quick wickets and with it their momentum and direction - that happened yesterday. England have long been carrying one or two players despite some wins.

Collingwood : 37 runs @ 12.33
Yardy : 27 runs @ 13.50 & 3 wkts @ 57.67

And usually you can add Bresnan and Wright to the trio of uselessness that includes Yardy

ODI careers

Bresnan : 390 runs @ 24.38 & 36 wkts @ 38.44
Yardy : 170 runs @ 17.00 & 14 wkts @ 43.93
Wright : 599 runs @ 22.19 & 14 wkts @ 53.79

Makes me laugh, some defend Yardy on here yet Wright hardly bowls and has as many wickets as Yardy - and off fewer balls!

Of the many things I could accuse England of, match fixing is very highly unlikely to be one. Why would anyone pay them to do what they do naturally anyway?!?!

The ECB people have earned my respect on that one. If I was in their place, I would have simply aborted the tour.

This is biased thinking. This is biased views. This is biased action taken by some of the people. We have started an in-house investigation and we will book everybody who has done this. They said they will sue me. I will sue them. This is something totally wrong. This is definitely a conspiracy against Pakistan cricket

Was this guy a circus clown before joining the PCB? Sure seems like that.

Wrong thread but I thought I better reply.

Economy rate. If you're talking about Yardy at least be decent enough to use the reason he is in the team during your analysis regardless of whether you think its right to be in the team for your economy.

I for one believe that if you can go for less than 4.2 runs and hold a bat you've got a role. I agree about Bresnan though. He is bloody useless. The only reason he is in the team at the moment is because we've been a winning team over the last year. Seeming as though the next world cup is on the subcontinent (I hate using this as a reason for bringing him in however) I suppose there is an outside call for Rashid to come in and us to go in with three spinners. I'd back Rashid to get more wickets and hold his bat as well although it might be a bit of risk going in with only two seamers.

Then they lose Sidebottom who should've been playing instead of Bresnan.:facepalm

Hear hear. It's LIMITED OVERS cricket, which means economy rate counts... You've also got to look at the other bowlers - are they struggling to take wickets? If they are, then fair enough you might need a 5th bowler with a good strike rate. But I can't see that England struggle to take wickets. It would be like stacking a batting lineup with as many big hitters as possible - sexy, but unnecessary and probably foolhardy.

if ijaz butt says hes heard this stuff from bookmakers doesnt this make him more of a suspect as being involved in the fixing. Seems to me like he hasn't thought this through too much.

BBC Sport - Cricket - England demand full apology from PCB chairman Ijaz Butt

The England and Wales Cricket Board has threatened to take legal action against Ijaz Butt unless he apologises for claiming England threw a game.

Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Butt said he had heard from bookmakers that England had been paid to lose Friday's third one-day game at The Oval.

England, who lost the game by 23 runs, have denied the allegations.

And ECB chief David Collier said: "We are looking for an apology. If it does not come we'll look at other options."

He added: "Clearly we will seek advice but there are quite strong laws of defamation.

"You can't impugn someone's integrity without having proper evidence.

"To date I can say that we have received zero evidence of anything having influenced any England player."

This is delicious, they should have gone a step further and ask him to wear a pink tutu and do a little dance.

Exactly, why is he so privy to what goes on inside Subcontinent bookie circles? All of them are illegal, he should be no where near them.

He obviously made it all up in a childish attempt to hit back. Now he will have to suffer the consequences and grovel like a little bitch in front of the world (or get his pants sued off).

I think we showed a big heart by not taking any action against Trott.

"There was such a suggestion before the toss of not playing, but I think that was not the right thing to do. We are going through a difficult situation and we should not react and I think patience is the best thing for us."

What a self- righteous twat.

I suddenly am a Trott fan now .

Trott and Riaz had an altercation in the practice nets minutes before yesterday's fourth one-day match at Lords' - which Pakistan won by 38 runs to level the series at 2-2 - and had to be separated by England batting coach Graham Gooch.

It began as they couple passed each other near the nets.

Trott was heard to say" ‘How much are you going to make from the bookies today?’

Riaz then made a comment about a member of Trott’s family before the pair threw batting pads at each other.

The altercation ended with Trott grabbing Riaz by the throat and the prospect of an all-out fight was only averted by Gooch, who pushed Trott away before putting an arm around the Pakistani.

This is brilliant stuff

Trott had no right taunting Riaz that way. Riaz should have punched his teeth down his throat.
