Story Sri Lanka aim to become the best (ICC2006)

Was Sangakkara opening in the previous matches? If not, then don't change his position. Tharanga looks to be a good opener so perhaps you could try the two out and see how it goes.

haha brilliant, England are getting ownage! Sri Lanka, is obviously a side to contend with as they keep preforming pretty well against one of the supposed great nations.

keep it up Jaz! :)

Weerakoon bowled very well and Sangakkara played very well with the bat aswell. A great combination. And yes Tom. Will Jaz keep his wiining streak going? :):)

Cummon Jaz! U gotta lose atleast a match!

i don't think its possible unless someone comes for Jaz for one match as substitution as coach :p Have a feeling to set up an secret investigation committee though on Lankan team ;)

3rd One Day International against England

Unchanged Team

I lost the toss and England elected to bat first.

A costly start was eventually changed as Maharoof got Strauss for 3 on 22-1 as soon after Tharanga dropped Pietersen whilst he was on 2*. Some bda luck. In Sajeewa Weerakoon's first over he got Marcus Trescothick for a measly 26 but that was the only wicket for a while as Owais Shah and Kevin Pietersen destroyes any bowling we threw their way. Tharanga then dropped Pietersen again this time on 35*. After a massive 112 opening partnership Owais Shah went as Weerakoon got him for 47 with the last ball of his over. First ball of the next over and Zoysa gets Kevin Pietersen for 64 to leave the score on 142-4 after 30.1 overs and then Michael Vaughan went for a golden **** as England started to collapse, as they soon found themselves stuck on 153-6 after being 142-2 at one stage. With only Prior the last recofnised batsmen, some great magical stuff from Maharoof, as he takes out the tail getting figures of 6-32 in the process. 170 all out as we are in a storng position to win the game quite comprehesivly and wrap up the series again against England.

As a slow opening 10 overs we pick up the run rate quite happily to reach 54-0 off 16 overs. As both men are around the half century mark we reach 99-0 off 25 overs, Kumar Sangakkara on 50* and Upul Tharanga on 43*. But with glory comes pain as Kumar Sangakkara goes for 58 as Kapugedera comes in and hits the last two balls for 4's to reach 8(2) and we reach as a team 128-1 off 29 overs needing 43 to win. Soon after Tharanga goes for 64 but then Kapugedera and Mahela Jayawardene nearly take us home with just 3 runs to win and Mahela Jayawardene is bowled as Kapugedera brings up the winning runs. Some great opening batting secures a third straight One Day International win as we wrap up the series already with 2 games still leaft to play.

Great bowling by Mahroof, he seems to have hit some sort of form. Also, Sangakkara has carried his good form into this match as well. He's in sublime form, let's hope he can keep it going. Keep it up James!
