And thanks to those who replied.
Good luck to Sri Lanka. I hope it comes out to be great story and give some tough competition to c2005 story to remove people's misconception about c2004.
Pitch: Hard
Weather: Sunny
Temperature: Cool
Chance of Rain: None
Outfield: Average
Playability: It is perfect for batting. It has a very nice bounce in it. Not much is there for the bowlers though. But if the bowler balls too well, then there are chances.
Line-ups
The line-up of the hosts, New Zealand
The line up looks very good. The batting line up extends till the bottom. There are 3 fast bowlers, a spin bowler and two swingers in place.
The Visitors line-up, Sri Lanka
The batting Line up is not that long but strong enough with Gunawardene, Jayasuriya and Attapatu at the top. And Sangakkara and Jayawardene to back up at fourth and fifth. There are no worries at bowling. 3 fast bowlers and 4 spinners.
The Toss:
Sri Lanka won the toss and decided to ball first. Now that can prove to be tricky as batting last on this pitch is not wise enough.
And guys since this is a battle between C2004 and c2005, i am going to put my best on it (along with photoshop effects)
Vaas ? 0/28 in 8.0 Overs
Muralitharan ? 1/10 in 2.0 Overs
After 16 Overs New Zealand are 73 for the loss of three wicket. Astle returned back to the pavilion right in the 6th over. Sinclair left after inner edging a ball to the keeper, Sangakkara. And Styris just couldn?t face Muralitharan. Fleming continues whit his feet firm on crease and Cairns is also ably assisting him.
Dismissed Batsman?s Innings:
1st Wicket: Astle left the New Zealand crowd Booing as he went away as a result of a badly hit shot at 10 runs. The batsman hit only 10 runs including a four. The player was caught by Jayasuriya at Square Leg off Fernando. It is one major wicket down for New Zealand.
2nd Wicket: Sinclair didn?t last long. Scoring just 3 runs in 6 balls, He toppled down to a Yorker from Fernando, for which he used an advanced leg glance and the ball found the inner edge and went safely to Sangakkara conveniently.
3rd Wicket: Styris came in at the wrong time. Coming in at the 13th over, Muralitharan balled three balls to dismiss Styris. Not a very long innings for Styris, and if he doesn?t ball well, Styris might be in the pavilion for the next match.
Other Tense Moments:
Fleming was not that comfortable against the bowlers. He was subject to two LBW's which were ruled out by the umpire:
