Seeing as the stats geeks amongst us are not catered for in this game I've done my own number crunching. After getting loads of data from a well known cricket stats website I've knocked up a spreadsheet that adds a bit of interest to my many hours of gameplay. I've split it up into three areas:
1) when I enter my created player's stats in to boxes it displays where these stats are amongst the all time rankings by giving the stat a rank as well as showing who (by displaying the player's name) is directly above and below in terms of performance in the chosen statistical category....I know, what a geek!!
2) When my created player reaches certain landmarks e.g. 5000 test runs my second section displays an all time ranking in terms of how fast it took to reach this landmark.
3) I have copied the Future Tours Programme fixtures for England and created a 60 Test/ 60 ODI cycle that involves playing all teams home and away. By keying the number of the last game played in to a box the next five games on the fixture list are displayed.
By basically charting my created player's stats v the all time greats over a whole career and playing the actual International schedule I'm maintaining my interest. It's a shame there wasn't all this number crunching (plotting stats and a career mode) done for me in the game. Next time maybe?
I'm playing on hard mode by the way with my batting timing attribute points moved down to around 20-30 and power down to around 50 max. My catching is 30 for both in and outfield catches. Oh, and obviously still saving after each over in the field to get rid of kamikaze AI runouts! I'm still finding I'm winning my games but with the attributes lowered I feel like I'm earning my stats more.
Don't know what anyone feels should be in the next game stats/ career mode wise? Or am I the only cricket stats geek out there!!!
