Steven Smith

When he starts his run-up and his follow through ,bit of his action reminds me Shane Warne. If this guy is groomed well he will be very dangerous to play.

Still very young, need much more to learn.
He isn't very good against Strong Asian batsmen yet.

They really need to not rush him. There's going to be a big deal about him- there already is- but the worst thing is for him to believe his own hype.

As for Greg Chappell's comments that he should play in the Ashes, it's rubbish. He, as yet, doesn't have the numbers or experience to back him up, and there's no one to drop either.

A couple more years of Shield cricket under Warnie's tutelage making him first and foremost a leggie and he'll be good to go, but not yet. Don't forget that Warnie didn't debut until he was 22, and Smith's still only 20.

Smith has a very odd action. Difficult to read and releases the ball at a great angle, but wastes a lot of energy in whirling the arms and doesn't seem to have control over where the ball is landing, as his arm is coming down almost sideways.

He definitely should focus on his bowling, because lack of practice will lead to him getting very wayward. It's not like he has an easy, classical action, where he can fall back on just doing the basics right. He seems very much a form spinner, needs the practice to get things right.

His batting looked less than impressive in the 2 pressure matches

I think he is more concerned of getting to the other end once he misses the ball, then actually playing a shot....

I thought he batted pretty well keeping Huss company against Bangladesh. He hardly got to bat apart from that. He's 20, needs to work on his bowling at State level and be kept right away from the test team or he'll just wind up concentrating on his batting to hold a place in the side.
