Best hour of the match for England: first our over lunch. Beefy has been as Beefy is and injected some muscle and pace to the innings and Willey has made some amends to his dreadful call that got Boycott out and these two have pretty rapidly accumalated the first serious partnership of the match. If these two can carry on they might post something to have a bowl at. Pitch seems easier to bat on now the ball is older. Nice and gloomy at Headingly though!

Lawson get his man!

Willey playing a content second fiddle to Botham was undone by a Lawson snorter, banged in short that rose off the pitch and nibbled the outside of edge of his defensive pose into the gleeful gloves of Marsh. The Aussies had struggled a little to find the teasing length they had found in the session before lunch, either bowling too short and wide or too full. But Lawson came in and found his rhythm again and the ball that got Willey was a real joy to see: pace, hurrying the batsman, rising fiercely towards the face and Willey could only place his bat in front of his face and hope...forlornly it turns out. Aussies sense they have this innings again by the scruff of the neck. One man could still do some damage. How will he approach this innings now?

Had another run through Bermuda. No tail recovery this time. So it doesn't happen every time. Happy to disapprove that hypothesis, although it's a small sample size. Might spend Christmas bowling at Bermuda.

Also, I got four lbws with oppositve handed bowlers. Two were cutters which just aren't as satisfying and one was thanks to Donny T but certainly doesn't feel as impossible as it has before. Wonder if it's the low rated batsman though. Hopefully I can get one through to the stumps soon.
