Super Series

i was looking over icc's 11 year test plan and well i found the Super Series(World All stars s number 1 ranked tema in boht forms) and it is scheudled for sept 2005. That isnt the shocking part but what is, that they say it will happen in SOUTH AFRICA....

i find this very shocking as South Africa just jad the world cup. If anything the tournament should happen in Pakistan or separate minnow countirs(kenya, holland, canada, and so on)

some may be shocked y i said Pakistan...well to tell u the truth they dont have much cricket as in special odi tournaments...i dont even remeber the last time they had a tri series....all they have is basic tours.

Why other countries shouldnt have it this time around
AUS-They get a whole summer of cricket...with a long test series followed by a 15 odi tourney
ENG-WHole summer of cricket and then a tri series and a 3 odi series(Natwest challenge) and then they r also hosting the mini WC
SA-They just had a world cup
WI-hmmmmmm well they r getting one but this series cna help them prepare
IND-They had a tri series and tend to have quite a few
ZIM-I dont know if any of the countries will play there while mugabe is in power
BAN-Well they got u19 cwc and they also held the mini cwc a couple years back
NZ-They got a mini cwc in 2000 but still i think they should may get it too as they dont have many odi tourneys
SL-got mini cwc couple years back and got tri series

I know u will say well it is pak fault for not organizing the tri series but also realize that other countires have to accpet to come...

It should be held in England cos its where cricket began.Well at least for the first time then afterwards it can be held everywhere.

Regarding to the ICC champions trophy its in sept which means it will be colder, the pitches will be worse and more bowler friendly and all the kids will be at school/college.(Im gonna be at college when Eng play India   )

I don't think the ICC will be scheduling any major cricket events in Pakistan any time soon unfortunately. The (incorrect) perception of Aus,NZ and England is that Pakistan is a dangerous place and that "terrorism" is a major threat. This is complete crap of course, just like it was with NZ not wanting to go to Kenya at the World Cup. NZ didn't want to go on their recent tour to Pakistan but Pakistan would have refused to come to NZ if we didn't. Several players didn't want to go so we had to send a second string XI and got our asses kicked 5-0.
But yes, I think NZ should get the ICC trophy soon, when the ICC invented it, it was meant to be for emerging and smaller cricketing nations, e.g Kenya. I know England aren't very good, but I don't think I would call them emerging.

Actually the "Stupid Series" should be held in the country that's playing in it, just makes sense really, I don't think they will sell that many tickets to an Australia vs. Rest of the World Test match in Durban as opposed to the MCG.
Speaking of stupid ideas I just read that the ICC in their infinite wisdom has decided to increase the number of teams in the World Cup to 16! Now I can look forward to the UAE vs. Holland at the next world cup.
What sort of logic is this? Have more pointless matches but have no reserve days for rain and continue to have a one-off final instead of a best of three.

They're also changing the first round to 4 groups of four. Kenya will have test status by 2007 so there will be 5 non-test teams in the tournament.

This means that there will be a minimum of 14 games involving non-test countries, and only one that involves two, as opposed to 22/2 in the last World Cup. Less "pointless" games.

I agree about the reserve days for rain, but only if they make them a continuation of the game, rather than starting the game of from the start again.

And by the way, I think you're getting mixed up with the ICC Trophy and ICC Champions Trophy.

Looks like in 2007 Bangladesh might win their first test :D

dunno....i recon that kenya are better than them at the mo`

And by the way the last time Pakistan hosted a one-day tournament was the 1996 World Cup. The last time they hosted one on their own was in 1994!

yeha i guess pak is a little unsafe but then i feel they have to spread it around...because each nation has to wait 20 ears for a world cup and i dont think they want to wait another 20 for this so it would be better if one match in AUS, IND and other places...and the icc r quite dumb this is the perfect series to promote the game where it isnt so popular...like the odis should be held in canada and holland due to their good performaces at cwc and that generates little interest s dont kill it, encourage it

while tests may be boring to non test nations so they should be held in the test nations...trust me canadian wont come ot a slow boring test mathc but a fast action pack odi they will....

but i stil feel SA dont deserve it, like they just got the world cup, y do they need more there are other countires that dont get much such as NZ or WI(even though they got cwc 2007 they could possibly use this series as a test for the world cup and after that they will deicde if the windies can hold it)

personally it is great england made the game but doesnt mean the other countires who put their hard work in dont get any benefits...like england just got cwc 99 and now the iMini CWC

Personally i feel the best option for the odis is to promote the game in where there has been a seed of interest created...so now get those odis, water the seeds and let the interest grow

Well Kenay are set to get status in 2005, so who knows, maybe Kenya will get their first test win before Bangladesh get theirs!
bangladesh dont deserve test status.Kenya are a much better team

So you'd take it away from Bangladesh then?

And you'd have taken it away from New Zealand when they didn't get a win in their first 50 odd tests? And you'd take it away from, say, England if they don't win for 30 games?
