Surrey lose to students

How do you guys think Australian Premier cricket sides would fare against County sides?
I think it would be quite intresting to see what would happen.

Are you talking about the State sides? If so, I'd go with the Australians almost every time.

no guys im talking about the next step down from state level.
Some Melbourne teams are Melbourne, Dandenong, St. Kilda, etc...

I think it would be a similar sort of level as County cricket

Well they still have state level players playing in those sides, also australian players. So i don't see how it would be different to county cricket.

If you're talking the top level of grade cricket, against a full strength county side then it's the county side every single time.

Australia state cricket is defintely a higher class than county cricket, but grade cricket is defintely on a level below county cricket.

Another win for a University side over a county side, this time for Loughborough over Worcestershire.

Result

Loughborough UCCE 1st Innings: 304/6 declared (Clinton 106)
Worcestershire 1st Innings: 133 all out (Clark 5/29)
Worcestershire 2nd Innings (following on): 209 all out
Loughborough UCCE 2nd Innings: 41/2

Loughborough UCCE win by 8 wickets

Why were they playing? It's not C&G and it's not pre-season.
All 6 University sides get 3 games against county sides during the first couple of months of the season. This is the 5th season they've been doing that.....

There's 5 games to go too.....

21st May: Cambridge UCCE v Warwickshire
25th May: Durham UCCE v Durham
25th May: Oxford UCCE v Lancashire
1st June: Cambridge UCCE v Middlesex
1st June: Yorkshire v Bradford/Leeds UCCE

Then the Cambridge v Oxford games on the 17th and 28th of June.

And if you're interested Scotland beat Durham UCCE a couple of weeks ago in one of their warm up games.....

wot were they thinking :p. i guess martin bicknell was injured coz my m8 hit him in the foot in the ken barrington centre wen the 1st XI were training next to us wen we had under 13 surrey training

Mabey if surrey took their heads out of their own backside they might win some games!!!

they lost to students.....lol....you'll be hearing "It was all fixed" soon....

Yeh Tim, i agree with andrew because some English players go across to Aus land to play Grade cricket (a lower standard) when they are just emerging and are stuck in COunty 2XI...Nasser Hussain to name but one!
