"Jimmy wasn't very happy because he'd had a wicket robbed off him, Straussy was miffed that his integrity was questioned and I wanted to kill the batsman because he was cheating.

So is he going to be banned or fined?

I very much doubt there's a suspension, Swann was just describing what his emotions were at the time. You might have heard someone saying they wanted to kill themselves - AT THE TIME, just to describe that they were very disappointed. Doesn't mean you check them into an asylum.

Swann obviously didn't want to kill him, or he would have physically assaulted him, or made some plans to come after him later in the dressing room. None of those things happened - it's just an expression...:yes

Silly incident, whether or not the batsman was "cheating" is debatable. I'm sure roles reversed Strauss may well have done the same, and this wasn't even an international match.

Swann increasingly seems to say way too much, 'first' about scrapping ODIs, now this.

In real world this is good reason for a mental evaluation. Swann is already underperforming we don't want a spinning killer on the loose.

I suspect Andy Flower gave him a talking to. Comes back to your cheating point in a way but you have to respect the on-field umpires.
A bigger concern is how poorly he's bowling at the moment. After such a brilliant 2011 I guess he was due a dip but this is where we really need him.

Just not true. Perhaps in your office.

Only the other day my housemate came home and her exact words were "I could have killed Sean today."

It's an English expression that is easy to take out of context. Oh, and it's fairly obvious Swann will be in the media a lot, they pretty much ring him up on a slow news day because they know they'll get something beyond the usual PR managed drivel that so many sportspeople spout.

Yeah I actually totally agree with Puddleduck and disagree with Owzat here. It's so nice to find a cricketer who actually has personality and doesn't just spout media-speak 24/7. I follow Swanny on twitter and he's a genuinely funny bloke. The world would be a much duller place if we squashed characters like that.

Also I could kill Tom. I really could ;)

What's your Twitter?

I don't think this was a tweet, but I'd like someone to stomp on this "tweet first, think later" mentality, before it gets out of hand (if it hasn't already). There are some things you just can't say publicly, no matter what other excellent traits you might have.

It's like the word bastard. Indians get riled up when you call them that but it's almost a term of endearment around here.

Oh they are. Don't worry your innocent little head. Before you know it, no one anywhere will say anything remotely interesting or controversial.

It'll be like Nazi Germany, except you won't be able to say that, because talking about anything bad will be banned too. It'll be glorious, we'll all tell each other how wonderful we all are, and how fantastic it is that we all agree.

Mark will of course be running highly illegal underground chat dens full of inappropriate comments and potentially offensive slang. The sort of place that doesn't ask for a licence, and hopes it doesn't get asked if it has one. :spy

At the end of the day the Americanization of England will be complete when it combines with the football mentality to create a culture so cultureless as to probably actually morph back into a definable culture.

It'll be a world of two halves, with people only dealing in tired cliches. We'll all support things we don't understand with undying loyalty whilst working our socks off. Now can I have a hell yes! God be with you. Wooooooo.
