Chris Gayle
Shane Watson
Brendon McCullum(wk)
Marlon Samuels
Ross Taylor(c)
Shakib Al Hasan
Kieron Pollard
Graeme Swann
Mitchell Starc
Ajantha Mendis
Steven Finn

The balance of the side is pretty good, three explosive batsmen at the top, followed by a versatile middle order capable of stabilizing the innings as well as playing the big shots whenever required, and then there is Pollard and Swann at 7 and 8.

The Bowling department also has enough variety,
3 quicks - Finn, Starc and Watson,
1 medium pacer - Pollard,
and there are plenty of spinners - Swann, Mendis, Al Hasan, Samuels and Gayle.
In fact any1 except the keeper and the captain can bowl:lol

Come on.guys it's not necessary to get in jayawarden, maybe if i see a better batting order maybe I can add a poll

Jayawerdene was the sole reason why Sri Lanka made it to the final. In fact he was Sri Lanka's best impact player. He failed against South Africa the only match Sri Lanka lost before the final and then made of scores 44, 65 n.o, 42, 42 and 33 the last, his lowest in this sequence but still the highest scorer for his team in the final

Why Al Hasan? He played 2 games. Swann took 7 wickets where Yuvraj Sing had a better economy and more wickets than Swann. In fact only Ajantha Mendis and Sunil Narine were in the top 6 bowlers who made a impact from the spinners. The 4 others are quick bowlers.

XI I prefer:

Chris Gayle

That in bold is wrong. Hussey made 155 @77.50 unless you took the averages only from the knock out stages
Taylor 147 @49.00

And how's mine ?:D

Yeah any team should always have basher in the lower order in t20 format .

As per the new rule. I've included Sanga who can be solid early on and has done very well behind the stumps as well. Mike Hussey, who replaced Luke Wright, on the other hand is one of the best finishers around.

:wi: Chris Gayle (222 runs @ 44.40, SR 150)
:aus: Shane Watson (249 runs @ 44.80, SR 150; 11 wickets @ 16.00. Eco. 7.33)
