The BIG XI Thread

Do you wait for the ball to come to you or go after the ball I seem to have 0.5 seconds to make a decision just seems so difficult also with the footwork do you point the left stick
Towards the marker or just press up and down for front or back foot I’m still to master this

I think the field settings count big towards fair play and also moving the batter all the time I’ve won 3 abs lost 15 but still in top 60 above people that have won 90% of games
Not sure on which platform but in ps4.. There are a lot of players in top 50 despite winning very few matches. I'm ranked 10 having won only 60% of matches.

This mode has tremendous potential, they just need to nail the point system for Fairplay.

u can now not hit a power shot over the inner ring fielders (in front of square)

Hi @MattW,

First game after the new patch. Played the big XI mode. for a T5 match.

Bowled first with LFM, RF, RM and OS bowlers and the opponent was all out for 30 odd. Not a single ball was early release nor late release. The fielders were evenly placed in the leg side and off side. Mixed the deliveries in line and length without having any silly or close fielders.

Chased down the total where one of my batter had stepped on step to the offside for one ball only. Played to the merit of the ball and scored my runs. Yet I was awarded -185 points at the end of the match.

I am adding the link to the match in case you want to review whatever said above. Could you please tell me what did I do wrong to be awarded with negative points?

Just played online 3 games one was a bit glitchy but apart from that feels the same struggled hitting 6’s but I always do on pro controls

I will try I don’t have the batting feedback on I disabled lots of stuff for realism but it’s probably hindering me now
Yea.. To be honest we cant expect realisism from a sim game.

Batting in real vs batting looking at screen has a lot of difference.. If you look at the gameplay video above you will be able to see that, I'm picking only certain balls to hit. Not saying its the right approach in a 5 over game.

You can work out what works best for you and make changes from there.

The new fair play bonus is broken. I played a match where my batsman dint move. Almost all bowls were bowled in normal normal range. No silly fielders. No repeat line or length.

Yet got - 489 as the fair play bonus.

Should be atleast told what they expect from us. Don't think anyone can play fair than the above mentioned.

From a quick skip through, a number of balls that either were wides, or were bowled down the leg side. A few small deductions adding up among mostly fair gameplay. A tiny deduction in fair play points is not a "you were unfair" - the idea is they offset against the points you get for playing/winning. You get 500 points even for losing a match, so if your fair play is less than 500 you are always net positive.

This is the only way we can deliver what people were demanding before this patch - that people who play genuinely unfair don't end up getting positive points, it means even minor things can build fairly high points, but ones that should be offset by the normal scores during gameplay.

We'll look to improve how we can communicate this - though to some extent we also don't want people to 'game' the fair play system, such as to bowl the exact amount of bad balls that keep them under the limits of some of the stronger penalties, etc.

Thanks Mattw.

I just played through a match myself trying it out and actually ended with -66 fair play - my main deduction was for bowling too many effort/slower balls in an over. That might be one for people to watch out for, and wouldn't be that obvious on a video unless you're checking bowling speed each time to be sure.

I do agree that. I bowl quite a mix with effort and slow balls.

Don't mind getting a few negative points if the unfair players would end up loosing points than getting it when they play really unfair.

I'm sure you would need more time to tweak the criteria to find the right balance. Will be happy to help out if at all necessary.
