I would now really like to request my captains to send me a bit up the order in the next match. Till now, I have got just a single chance to bat, that again in the last few overs of a match.
A very warm and hearty welcome to everyone. We are here at Faisalabad in Pakistan for the ODI game between Lions and Vipers. It?s a hot sunny day here and the pitch for today's game is dusty.
Two captains are there in middle and waiting for the umpire for the toss. Ashwin won the toss and had no hesitation in electing to bat first.
Tarzan and Sashidharan started the innings for Vipers and looked solid. Bowlers bowled with good line and length. The first 15 overs saw a good contest between Bat and Ball, Vipers were 48/0 at the end of 15 overs.
After some aggressive batting by Vipers, who started scoring freely but in the process they lost four quick wickets. Openers were back in pavilion after a solid knock. Tarzan (44 of 71 balls), Sashidharan (38 of 83 balls), Ashwin (6 of 2 balls) and Gorrilla (18 of 12 balls). Neo95 picking up two wickets.
Lions were looking to wrap up the vipers innings with some more tight bowling, but then Johny had other plans. He looked quite confident and had two good partnerships in the end. He attacked all the loose deliveries and he was well supported by WC and Bladescape. A misunderstanding between Johny and WC ended WC's innings of 26 runs and a good partnership of 59 runs for the 5th Wicket was broken.
Johny reached a well deserved 50. He was given LBW on the last ball of the innings for a well played knock of 86 runs from 77 balls with 18 fours and 2 sixes. Bladescape remained unbeaten on 26 runs. The partnership worth 69 crucial runs.
All the bowlers bowled well and chipped in with wickets. Neo95 was the standout bowler with the figures of 10-2-42-2.
Lions had a target of 250 runs to chase from the allotted 50 overs with a run rate of 5 runs per over.
Lions openers were pretty relaxed and were looking very confident. KX and 20/20 Pro were quite watchful. The bowlers made sure that no easy runs are given and bowled well with the new ball. First 15 overs saw Lions making 56 runs for no loss, slightly ahead of Vipers who were at 48/0 at the same stage.
With the asking rate rising more than 6 runs per over. 20/20 pro started to smash everything and ended up loosing his wicket for (44 of 75 balls). Amiya is a aggressive batsmen but he was looking uncomfortable against the short ball and got struck in the middle without scoring runs.
Last 15 overs remaining in the innings and they still require another 119 runs to win with 9 wkts in hand, a tough ask but not impossible. They just managed 16 runs from the next 30 balls and a big wicket of KX for well made (59 of 94 balls).
Last 10 overs and 103 runs required. Giggity and Viral came in and smashed some quick fire runs but couldn?t last long. Giggity (20 of 21 balls) and Viral (22 of 21 balls).
It was far too late for lions as they required 69 runs from 24 balls with an asking rate of 17.25 runs per over. The bowlers bowled with the plans and made life difficult for the batsmen.
Lions could manage only 209 runs from the 50 overs and were defeated by 40 runs. For vipers it was Sanjog who bowled tight line and length and was economical in his spell of 10-3-38-2.
