The FM Elimination Challenge (June 2026)

I want out, not getting much game time, sell me to United.

There's been one loan move and one transfer up to January '14... who will it be? ;)

Also, while we are at it, the player in the spotlight is Treva. The Russian defender was dealt a tough card as his delayed transfer to Metalist in Ukraine saw him the only competitor to fail to find a club in the first year, which resulted in him being eliminated as he did not earn any points. However, from there, he decided not to worry about his bad fortune and continued playing outside of the competition. After leaving Metalist, he joined Villarreal in Spain, where he had an excellent short-lived career, making over 50 appearances for their first team in the space of two years - something that would have earned him huge points if he was still in the competition. Next up though, was his massive transfer to Chelsea, for a fee of $6.25M.

At Chelsea, he quickly found himself in the first team despite being just 20 years old at the time of making his first league appearance. He has blossomed in the blue of Chelsea and has made 27 senior appearances this season alone, more than any single player currently remaining in the competition. He is also playing regularly, while MaD, who is still in the competition, is not getting as much game-time at Chelsea.

At just the age of 21, Treva also has 19 caps for Russia, where he is known simply as the Truck. He is a rock solid defender and has earned his reputation in the national team as a defender who is simply fearless and will never back down from a challenge.

If only he was here today, Treva would surely be one of the top competitors and may even be challenging Hedger for the first position...

'Young Player of the Year' candidate by the sounds of it. Any chance of checking any awards I have picked up in my career? It should be in the achievements bit.

Thanks for keeping me updated.

I think his reputation of the "truck" has more to do with him smuggling drugs and immirgrants out of Russian than his soccer skills

:p

The major transfer of the six month period was Maney2k9 finally leaving Southampton where he is being bogged down and moving to a much better prospect - German club VfL Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga. This looks like a fantastic move for Maney who has finally ditched Southampton after some loyal years with them. Giggity Giggity also went on loan to Championship club Huddersfield, although whether this will be a beneficial move still remains to be seen.

Mattfb (GK, Italy)
Club: Everton
League: English Premier League
Player Profile

There was more trouble in Everton for Matt, who finds himself in the hotspot for elimination next June, sitting in last place as he fails to get any first-team matches at Everton. He is also substitute for a lot of matches which means that he is not making as many reserve or senior appearances as he would like. He continues to feature in Italy's youth, but now is really starting to fall behind and the pressure is heating up now as he fights to stay alive.

Points: 530.08

Nakul (ST, Spain)
Club: Valladolid
League: Liga BBVA
Player Profile

Nakul did well for Valladolid, playing 14 senior games and scoring 10 goals, winning 3 MOTM awards in the process. Valladolid are still lower mid-table in La Liga but should stay up for next year. Nakul also continued his fantastic goal scoring record for the Spanish youths, playing a few more games and scoring more goals. He now has scored 15 youth goals from just 13 youth caps. Nakul was also just one of two people alongside Ollie to be given a starting role in his team's Best Eleven.

Points: 652.77

MaD (DC/DM/MC, England)
Club: Chelsea
League: English Premier League
Player Profile

After holding the lead for a considerable time, Mad has dropped alongside Matt, with Mad now all the way down in 6th place after starting just twice for Chelsea. A torn groin muscle has hampered him but he really should be performing better. He is yet to make his debut for England, but has made 14 youth appearances for his country. With MaD starting to slide, he needs to fight his way into the first team and make a big impact in order to gain some valuable points.

Points: 612.76

Hedger (ST, Sweden)
Club: Juventus
League: Serie A
Player Profile

Hedger continues to improve and he has now made an impressive 26 appearances for Sweden, all of them before his 21st birthday, scoring 21 national goals in the process and has become a national hero. He is also banging them in at Juventus, scoring 13 goals from 19 games as well as 5 goals in 6 matches in Europe. The left-footed striker is now the highest-valued player in the competition and looks set to have a long career at Juventus.

Points: 869.73

Ollie H (MC, England)
Club: Manchester City
League: English Premier League
Player Profile

Ollie slipped off the pace a bit from Hedger, although he still remains within a hundred points and in second place. A broken foot has hampered his first-team opportunities, and it has kept him out for months already this season and it looks like he may not return until February. He can't afford to let Hedger gain any more on him - instead, he needs to fight back and try and catch Hedger who has gotten off to a bit of a lead now.

Points: 779.45

Giggity Giggity (ST, Wales)
Club: Huddersfield (on loan from West Brom)
League: Coca-Cola Championship
Player Profile

Things aren't looking great for Giggity Giggity, who despite being narrowly out of the elimination seat is not earning enough points at Huddersfield, who are in the Coca-Cola Championship. He was getting little game time at West Brom but now that he is playing with Huddersfield he may not be scoring as much points for his efforts and if Matt suddenly breaks into the Everton first team there could be trouble for Giggs. He hasn't been playing well either for Huddersfield, with a dismal return of just 4 goals from 15 matches in the Championship, and combined with his Welsh record of 3 goals in 15 matches, he certainly isn't one that is a natural goal-scorer.

Points: 561.26

Maney2k9 (ST/ML, Ireland)
Club: Wolfsburg
League: Bundesliga
Player Profile

Maney has finally made the move and it has benefited him greatly, with his points racing up as he jumpfrogged MaD and Giggity Giggity to find himself in 5th position, now in a much improved team and looking quite confident. Wolfsburg seem happy to have him and he can finally develop somewhere with good facilities, as Southampton really didn't have what he needed. He has also played more for Ireland, interestingly enough playing up front for them compared to his normal left midfield position, although he is competent at both. He has scored 4 goals in 4 games for the Irish and it looks like he may be getting more of a chance after that start.

Points: 642.85

Shantanu Rooney (ST, England)
Club: R. Madrid
League: Liga BBVA
Player Profile

Shantanu Rooney is in sensational form and Real Madrid are loving every minute with him. Since breaking into their first team, he has been inspirational with the sheer number of goals that he scores and this season has been no exception as he has found the net 18 times in 23 matches, earning 5 MOTM awards. His attributes look fantastic and now that he is at England he will have the chance to feature nationally which will surely earn him some much needed points - and, if for example he had Hedger's international record he would be in first place right now.

When I said I want out I didn't mean bloody Huddersfield! Who seriously goes there? I wanna go to Milan or Barcelona or MANCHESTER!!!!

Nearly worth $30M now. I'd like to make a move away from Juventus but it might ruin my career so I'll be wanting to stay there for the time being.

Elimination V

This elimination looked set to be an exciting one. With Mattfb in last place at January and heading as a favourite for elimination, it would need something brilliant to pull him back into the contest. And he managed to find it, with the aging Tim Howard finally dropped as the first choice Everton keeper.

However, before we head to the points, let's do a recap on each players awards that they have received in their career. These aren't effectively worth anything, with the exception of the Best Eleven, but it's nice to see how your players are going anyway..

Mattfb was named in the Crystal Palace Best XI in 2011, and has been named in the Everton Best XI in 2012 and 2013. He also won English Premier League Young Player of the Month in April this year.

Nakul has been named in the Liga BBVA Team of the Week on five separate occasions, with his first induction coming in September, 2009 and his most recent in December, 2013. He was also third placed in the 2009 Under 20 World Cup Golden Shoe award, he has been named in the Valladolid Best XI twice in 2010 and 2013 and he has also been inducted into their Overall Best XI.

MaD was named in the Aberdeen Best XI for two years in 2010 and 2011 before his move to Chelsea, and he has also been named in the Clydesdale Bank Scottish Premier League Team of the Week twice. He is yet to receive an award at Chelsea.

Hedger has a large list of awards that started as he was inducted into the Kalmar FF Best XI. He has also been named in the Sweden Best XI four times and has also been inducted into the overall Best XI for Sweden. He was named in the Wolves Best XI and has been named in the Juventus Best XI in 2012 and 2013. He has been named in the Serie A Team of the Week 3 times and he was the 2013 Serie A Young Player of the Year runner up.

Ollie H has twice made the Coca-Cola Championship Team of the Week, with Reading as well as with Hull and he has won the English Premier League Young Player of the Month on three occasions, in October 2012, February 2013, and April 2014. He has made the English Premier League Team of the Week twice, and was the English Players' Young Player of the Year runner up in 2012/13. He has been named in the Man City Best XI once and has also been inducted into their overall Best XI. He was named in the England Best XI for the year of 2013.

Giggity Giggity has made the Coca-Cola Championship Team of the Week twice with West Brom, and he was named the Coca-Cola Championship Player of the Month in September, 2009. He has been named in the West Brom Best XI twice, in 2010 and 2013, and has been named in Wales Best XI team three times in the years of 2010, 2012 and 2013. He won the Coca-Cola Championship Young Player of the Month at Huddersfield in August, 2013.

Maney2k9 was named twice in the Coca-Cola League 1 Team of the Week and made the Southampton Best XI for four consecutive years, from 2010 to 2013. He was also named in the German Bundesliga Team of the Week in November, 2013 and made the Ireland Best XI for 2013.

Shantanu Rooney has by far the biggest award list, with a huge amount of awards. He was named in the German Second Division Team of the Week no less than 8 times, and was third placed in the 2009/10 German Second Division Top Goalscorer. He has been named in the Rostock Best XI twice in 2010 and 2011, and was the German Second Division Player of the Week in October, 2010. At Real Madrid, he has been named in the Liga BBVA Team of the Week again 8 separate times, and he was named in the Real Madrid Castilla Best XI in 2012. He finished runner up in the 2012/13 Spanish Young Player of the Year. In 2013, he received an amazing honour as he was named European Striker of the Year, while in 2013/14 he continued his amazing tally by winning the Spanish Young Player of the Year.

So, now that we have taken a look at all the awards won, it is time to get down to the business - Elimination V.

As I mentioned before, Mattfb was in some serious strife on just 530 points, over 31 points from safety and looking like a prime candidate to be heading home. However, finally Everton came to their senses in a life-saving move for Matt, and dumped Tim Howard, as Matt made a total of 22 league appearances for the season. This was more than enough, after Giggs made just the 15 appearances for Huddersfield on loan and then failed to burst into the West Brom senior team after returning. With just 574.88 points, it was Giggity Giggity heading home - thwarted by a fantastic comeback from Mattfb.

Also, I've made the screenshots a bit smaller this round. My screen is fairly big but I've minimized FM a bit so hopefully they won't stretch your screen too much when you click on them.

Mattfb (GK, Italy)
Club: Everton
League: English Premier League
Player Profile

After a superb comeback, Matt managed to save himself from being eliminated but he can't just relax - he needs to keep playing at Everton or else he will be eliminated this year, making his escape pointless. After replacing Tim Howard, it seems that Everton might just stick with him now as Howard is 35 years old, and with Matt still a long way from his peak it looks like he could be at Everton for a while - excellent signs for him.

Nakul (ST, Spain)
Club: Valladolid
League: Liga BBVA
Player Profile

Nakul was solid at Valladolid, scoring 17 goals in 31 appearances throughout the course of the season. Again, Valladolid narrowly survived, staying just two places above relegation, and that may be largely thanks to Nakul, who has remained loyal throughout his entire career to Valladolid. Is it time to get a move on? Or is he doing enough there to keep him safe in this competition...

Points: 737.91

MaD (DC/DM/MC, England)
Club: Chelsea
League: English Premier League
Player Profile

MaD's attributes aren't particularly impressive and as a result he made an extremely limited amount of appearances for Chelsea, although they seem willing to stick by him. He is currently being tutored by Essien and should hopefully improve enough to get a game in the first team - or else he could find himself in some real trouble as everyone else is now playing nearly all of the time. He is only a few points clear of Matt, who has suddenly found some form.

Points: 642.38

Hedger (ST, Sweden)
Club: Juventus
League: Serie A
Player Profile

Hedger is still a rock at Juventus, although suddenly he might have cause to worry for the first time in a couple of years with Ollie looking poised to make a surge after returning from his long-term injury. He remains 60 points ahead, but Ollie was injured for a large amount of the season and looks set to bounce back stronger than ever at City. Hedger again though had an excellent season, scoring 11 goals in the Serie A and a total of 18 from 34 matches and he looks set to be the next David Trezeguet at Juventus. With a value of $41M, he is also the 24th most expensive player in the world.

Points: 934.98

Ollie H (MC, England)
Club: Manchester City
League: English Premier League
Player Profile

After returning from his injury, Ollie suddenly looked a renewed force, winning the Premier League YPOTM for April. He only made a total of 22 appearances for City over the season, but he was badly hampered by a broken foot, which kept him out from mid-October to mid-February - a terrible time to pick up an injury. If he plays the full season next year Hedger may have some cause for concern.

Points: 877.59

Maney2k9 (ST/ML, Ireland)
Club: Wolfsburg
League: German Bundesliga
Player Profile

Maney continues to bask in the glory at his new club - a big step up from Southampton, anyway. While he definitely isn't safe, he is now in 5th place and looks comfortably clear from MaD and Matt - for now, anyway. His potential still definitely hasn't been fulfilled and hopefully for him and Wolfsburg he can continue to improve. He had a reasonable first season in the Bundesliga, and overall at Wolfsburg he played 23 matches with an average rating of 7.05.

Points: 686.83

Shantanu Rooney (ST, England)
Club: R. Madrid
League: Liga BBVA
Player Profile

Shantanu Rooney has loomed as a potential third competitor in the battle of Hedger and Ollie, although he still has a lot of work to do in order to catch them. That said, he is having a fantastic time at Real Madrid, and he again played brilliantly, scoring a superb 26 goals from 36 matches over the year. He finished with a staggering average rating of 7.6 and he is consistently a threat to opposition. An interesting note - if he had played just 11 games for England, he would be leading the competition right now, although despite his nationality change he is yet to make an appearance for them.
