The Great PlanetCricket Ask Me Anything You Like Thread [AMAYL]

Good play, @ChinamanSpin...

1. Are you a real fan of cake, or just one of them internet pretend ones?

The "Cake" in-joke originated as a joke with Chief when the infamous Lords Event for AC13 was announced, that they were going to have a cake there to bribe everyone and it turns out they did have Cake... and more. If you hadn't noticed, I love jokes that last a long time for no apparent reason, especially in-jokes that only a few people get, because it makes your conversations and stories worth listening to when you're either telling them a lot or to someone for the first time and you get to amuse yourself. My wife and I have a ton of in-jokes for "social situations" that we'll just drop in randomly to amuse ourselves... I guess I drag that into PlanetCricket from time to time...

2. If it's the former, what is your favourite variety/flavour?

Carrot Cake and all other flavours can GTFO. ...unless it's something like Ice-Cream cake, then Oreo Cookies wins, hands down.

3. What is the meaning behind the "Edit: Chris Gayle" phenomenon? I've searched the forum but couldn't find its origin.

Ahhhh, now THAT would be a tough find. So I'm pretty sure (and @blockerdave will remember better than I) it was that guy "WestIndies" or whatever, who, as well as being one of the most randomly obtuse guys on the forum who pops into threads and just says shit completely out of context, jumped into the middle of a discussion Blocker and I were having and just posted "Chris Gayle"

...and that was it.

So it was either me, or Blocker during that convo who just started putting "Chris Gayle" in the "reason for editing" bit on his posts and it carried on from there as a default setting for that "edit reason" section, because, Chris Gayle.

Okay, so I expected the chain to yet again be ceased, but I thought @Biggs would be the last to commit such a crime... my perception of reality has truly been destroyed :noway

So, i have decided to "out-Herod Herod", or rather, out-ChinamanSpin @ChinamanSpin, and have found the quotes...

it started here... and here

after a few piecemeal references it really became a "thing" here

to keep the chain going after @Biggs slaughtered it:

@barmyarmy

1)are you really going to wait for the DBC Steam release?
2)will the bitterness of that wait leak into the review?

I have no idea how you ballsed those two up. How about we leave these things to me in the future?

Edit: Did you fix those? They seem to be working now.

Nope. Changed my mind based on the number of PS3 players around for online. Plus I'll charge one copy to the site ;)
I don't feel any bitterness about the UK delay; clearly Ross is even more frustrated than we are and I'm confident the same problem won't arise next time.

Can't believe the cake story is still being mis-represented. There was no cake... (although there was pie and beer)

@Dutch - where have you vanished to? Can you think of a better question than I can?

I can't believe I tweaked up the "@"

...whoops...

I'll second the call for @Dutch to drop by an enlighten us just how he keeps his cheeks so rosey red and his whites so bright.

Dwarfs, seven of 'em. Best purchase I ever made.

@Mitchs Johnson what is your understanding of physics?:spy

@mikeymerren needs to take a break from fetching Ross' coffee and get into this thread asap, or maybe he's fearful @BigAntStudios will catch him slacking?

Because some things should never die:
@Englishmen (we will use @blockerdave as a spokesman) I have just read this by James Tredwell:
First time I was properly sledged
It would have been on my first visit to Australia, when I was 18. I didn't really know what sledging was until I went to play club cricket out there. The first time I walked to the wicket was a bit spicy. A few verbals went my way.

This has caused me to wonder if it is only Australia that have club cricket teams that are known for being 'a little over the top' when it comes to sledging. Because I had assumed (not that I had thought about it much) all club leagues, from around the world, have these teams (the kind that will bowl a ball, then finish their follow through and abuse you for seemingly no reason). So my question is: has anyone @blockerdave) from England played against a team like this or is it just us Australians?
