It happens a lot with the really super quick prospects with the fastest twitch muscle fibres. Baseball worked out decades ago that these guys break down if you use them on a daily basis.

They get injured and have long layoffs from their teen years, sometimes only playing a handful of pro games before retiring.

There was an Aussie in the 90s called Duncan Spencer who was the quickest thing anyone had seen in years. Played with Kent for a while and had one memorable blast at a 40 something Viv Richards playing in his last pro game for Glamorgan.

I think maybe he tried one more comeback after that but he just couldn't stay fit.

Ah Duncan Spencer, @Aislabie ’s favourite pacer ever.

He was genuinely super, super quick. And super short. The keeper would be taking the ball chest high and rising.

Might have had a chance to actually play a bit as a T20 specialist. Or maybe he would still have broken down just bowling 4 or 5 overs a day.

She gave up on getting back twice and was wrong both times. Glumly walking off to the pavillion while the keeper had an actual honest to god Ashes 2013 bonkers fielding moment.

Somewhere out there the Trickstar CEO is pointing at the screen and screaming "I was right!"

Such a promising late bloomer. If his body holds up he should be a test prospect automatically I reckon.
He is already on the radar of the selectors (Morris, Johnson, Richardson are the future first choice pacers if they can remain fit)

Every ball going to the ropes for NSC atm... whether they've timed the pants off it or gotten a thin underedge

TR could have done it if they'd launched a couple of those low full tosses right at the end.

Terriffic hitting to get themselves nearly over the line. Root is an incredibly accomplished all round batsman.

Root being relieved from carrying the whole Test team om his shoulders has done wonders for him. I'd certainly consider getting him back in the T20 side after the World Cup
