The Quota System

This absolutely silly. There have been many cases of white players also being picked for tour and not getting games.

Zondo and co should stop crying and go and put the runs and performances on the board. KG and Bavuma have shown if you perform you will be picked. The issue is he and his buddy ramela want freebies handed to them.

Ofc politicos don't care for merit or performance. More transformation means more votes whether on merit or not...

Being a tourist while being on an official international tour can't be fun for anyone.
I would love to see the players of color taking the stance Charl Langeveldt took years ago. He refused to be part of the national squad if he wasn't pick on merit. Surely filling a squad just because of your color must be a slap in the face for players of color?
Then again it doesn't seem to phase them in the least...
Transformation is here to stay, whether we like it or not :facepalm

What is there to say about the idiot sporting minister. How is barring cricket, rugby, netbal and athletics from hosting events going to help with transformation? Ofc we all know local elections are around the corner and its good for the government to switch attention anyway from nkandla to this...

Ofc if any of those 4 sports had a strong governing body they would have banned SA as this is clear government interference...

Kagiso Rabada & Aaron Phangiso?

Kagiso Rabada & Aaron Phangiso?
only Rabada played 6 tests and i am not sure whether he is in current team or not.[DOUBLEPOST=1461681215][/DOUBLEPOST]recently kallis also gave a statement over this issue

by the way symcox raised a point interestingly here . Dale Steyn simply retweeted a link to the story while Pat Symcox wondered how "swimming and golf escaped the sports ban

Please don't comment if you aren't sure if Rabada is in the team.

thanks , but if he is in team or not how does it make big difference?

we were trying to know about reason of ban actually . so do you have any idea?

I think it's to do with certain sporting organisations in SA not meeting the standards, for which they had signed up, of having a certain number of ethnic players in squads/teams.

Now, in terms of other stuff not related to you garry:

Personally, I really disliked Kallis' statement and it shows a lack of understanding and immense ignorance to state that sport can not and should be politicised. It always has been and always will be and played a crucial role in raising international awareness with regards to apartheid and most recently, many white SA supported various bans on Zimbabwe and it's marginalisation. I never heard Kallis having a problem with that.

This is probably the most balanced article of the idea of transformations I've ever read, even though inherently the idea forever bothers me.

"Transformation, despite what many seem to fear, is not about taking sport X or Y “away from white people” and it’s certainly not crying over the loss of Kevin Pietersen or Grant Elliott. Transformation is crying over every Temba Bavuma, Kagiso Rabada and Siya Kolisi we haven’t found"

Before I even begin to read the article I'll tell you we're losing more AB De Villiers and Graeme Smiths then we are loosing Rabadas and Bavumas...

AB and SMith were truly world class players who may be regarded as all time great batsmen. They are rarely lost to the system, whatever that system may be.

CSA to fix Proteas player ‘targets’

Cricket South Africa is to officially introduce transformation player ‘targets’ at national team level.

While these have been enforced at club and franchise level, until now there has been no official policy for the Proteas.

A statement issued on Tuesday said the Board of Directors of Cricket South Africa (CSA) has approved in principle the decision to introduce targets for all the national teams.

‘In the past we had never set targets in our national teams but with changing circumstances we feel it is essential to move with the times,’ said CSA President Chris Nenzani.

But exactly how many players of colour will be in the team by decree has yet to be decided. The franchises are required to field six players of colour, of whom three had to be ethnic Africans.

‘The precise targets will depend on work to be undertaken by relevant committees to determine what is realistic and sustainable. This will be announced in due course,’ said Nenzani. ‘We will aim to achieve our targets over the course of the year and not on a match by match basis.’

Nenzani told Parliament last year that the ideal was to have the national team 50% transformed, but the scope and the definition had yet to be decided.

He insisted at the time there was no quota for the national side. ‘We don’t set targets, we give guidelines. A player gets into the national team not because he is black. He needs to be a good player first.’

The ‘guidelines’ over national team selection were recently in the spotlight in the aftermath of the World Cup 2015 semi-final, when it emerged that CSA CEO Haroon Lorgat had been consulted on the team make-up and reminded the selectors of the transformation targets of four players of colour in the team. Vernon Philander, who had played much of the tournament with a hamstring injury, was picked ahead of the in-form Kyle Abbott.

The Board also received presentations on the progress of the Domestic Cricket Review as well as the repositioning of its domestic T20 competition. Whatever changes are made both in the domestic structures and in the T20 competition are scheduled to be introduced for the 2017/18 season.

Some of the proposed key principles for the global T20 are:

♦Separation of this competition from the other franchise competitions

♦An optimal number of 8 teams for a competition spread over 4-6 weeks

♦The league will be owned by Cricket South Africa and will take place from late November to the middle of December with the final on December 16 (a public holiday).

This will kill cricket in any meaningful in SA. This doesn't just hurt the white player, any non white player so selected will always be painted as undeserving of his spot.

Of course this is totally against ICC regulations but as we have seen with pakistan and sri lanka the ICC won't implement their own rules when it comes to political interference. Just like their buddies at World Rugby they lack the political will to do the right thing. For all their other problems we know for a fact Fifa would have thrown the ban hammer on this.
