The Reintegration Thread

"Trust issues" is extremely rich coming from an organisation that has obviously induced KP to forgo a lucrative contract under false pretenses.

What an absolutely shameful interview from Sky - Abrahams didn't ask a single pertinent or probing question:
  • i.e. we lose vs NZ, middle-order failing/injuries, KP stacking up runs what then?
  • will any coach want the job if one player is unpicked regardless of performance, captain set in stone regardless of performance
  • what are the trust issues - related to textgate, ashes tour, something else? he promised to be open and honest but was anything but.
  • ian bell averages 32.96 over the last 2 years, is that less detrimental to the short term interests of the side than picking KP? Really?
  • if prioritising IPL over England duty is ok for Morgan, why was it a stickler for KP?
Instead Abrahams gave Strauss a verbal blow job, spent almost as long thanking him for his time as he did asking questions.

Where were these "trust issue" when certain members were tweeting from a parody twitter account or leaks regarding sackings? Rotten to the core, people should make their feelings known at the next test match.

Undoubtedly he is past his best

Still better than Bell though and possibly a better off-spinner than Ali also. There have been enough Batsmen playing until approaching their forties so why not K.P?

lol at people bigging up a score against a team that literally hasn't won a championship game in over two years not that he shouldn't be playing, but the argument would be so much stronger if he was with a division 1 county

Maybe it would but he still scored 300+ against a professional team and McKay's no mug with the ball.

Paul Kelso is reporting on Twitter that Strauss offered KP an "advisory" role on the ODI/T20 teams but that KP "didn't feel in a position to accept".

So there was a conversation that went along the lines of "So, we don't trust you to be in the team, but would you like to tell us how to play limited overs because you're better than anyone we got?"

Kelso tweeted this within moments of the interview ending. Kelso is also a Sky reporter so it's likely Abrahams knew, and chose not to ask about it.

English cricket fans are as ill-served by their so-called journalists as their administrators.

Didn't McKay get dropped for the entire sheffield shield this season?

355 N.o hope this is not his last innings

I would really like to know more about strauss Trustometer and how it measures. He shows every bit of potential to surpass downtown.

I'm pretty much past caring about the national side any more, this is a disgrace. I honestly hope England get totally stuffed in the Ashes series to cause even more embarrassment for the leadership of the team.

I'm not 'anti-KP', I just don't believe that all of England's problems will be solved by him coming back into the team. Undoubtedly he is past his best and was a disruptive presence in the dressing room. These things cannot be argued. He was clearly serious about trying to get back into the side, coming back from the IPL to play county cricket in front of one-man-and-his-dog, but he made a mistake going to a second division county. If we were talking about 326 not out against Yorkshire or Durham, my tone would be a lot more positive than it is with it being a treble hundred against the worst team in the country.

England's main problem is a lack of quality in the bowlers, I think the batting lineup is pretty good.

The argument about recalling KP has never been his presence would solve all of ENGs problems, it is we need the ECB to stop lying to public and being the biggest assholes they have even been in the organisations history and cut out vindictiveness that not only lead to KPs axing, but Compton and all the bloody dumb selections that keep occurring in recent times - especially in the limited overs set-up.

How is KP past his best? What nonsense

ECB is the last damn people who should talk about trust, their former leader sold out world cricket to India and they sacked Moores after rumours of his sacking was already media.

Quality of opposition don't mean a thing, considering the obvious pressure to perform he would have felt leading into innings knowing he had meeting with Strauss, so produce such a innings was bloody brilliant and proves quite clearly as we all know that under serious pressure there is no better equipped England batsman to stand up to the NZ & AUS attacks this summer - if he didn't make runs nobody would have said shit. When Lara scored 501, that Durham side was a mess too - so don't try to downplay his innings.

If you can serious describe ENG batting after the windies tour and efforts since Ashes 2013/14 as "pretty good" I am convinced you live on Mars.

Other than Root and Ballance - the stability of others members of top 7 is highly questionable right now. ENG don't have a opener for Cook, Cook form issues is still a massive question mark despite his hundred in Caribbean - AUS/NZ bowlers will be confident of exposing his outside off-stump issues, Bell does not average 40+ since Ashes 2013/14, whether Ali or Stokes as all-rounders is top 6 batters & how the team will be balanced going forward is a up for serious debate right now, Buttler is supremely talented - but just yet hasn't put up the numbers

That is a extremely vulnerable batting line-up waiting to be carved up by two of the best attacks in world cricket.

Reading between the lines, its obvious Mr Tyrant Giles Clarke, is still influencing what's going on here

The politics in English cricket is actually embarrassing. I hope Australia annihilate us, it needs to happen to get rid of this silly culture.

Honestly, pick the best 11 players.

Bell does not average 40+ since Ashes 2013/14

Bell's Test average since the end of the 2013 summer ashes is 32.96. If you go from the start of the Sri Lanka series last year to take out the 2013/2014 Ashes, that "rockets" by less than 4 runs to 36.81. THERE is someone past their "best", such as it ever was.

Bottom line is, Pietersen needed to be dropped, not sacked, at the beginning of last year, because he was palpably unfit. He actually wouldn't have been in any condition to reclaim his place until now.

Only last week, I wrote that his time had probably past; but still you gotta pick on merit and he's just given me 355 reasons to reconsider: there's no question he'd be better at number 4 than Bell.

This line has been said for the past year or so .. one series after another. Don't think anything will change even if its a whitewash

From reading the comments from various websites that have been reporting this latest debacle one thing has really stuck out for me. While people may be divided as to whether K.P. should be given another chance or not, I have yet to see a comment in support of Strauss, not one!

This comment from The Guardian sums up the ECB for me:" I know of no other sport where the ruling body requests a written report from the team captain on his vision for the future of the team and leaks the report to the press and fires him because he disagrees with their selection of the coach on the grounds that he has insufficient international playing experience and the coach is sacked and then he is reappointed as the outstanding coach of his generation and then he does not do well again and is told he is sacked by the press and the ruling body tells the ex-captain there is a way back into the team and he follows their advice and then they tell him that there isn't and they declare that it is the ex-captain who cannot be trusted".

The only way the ECB will remove their heads from their asses would be to boycott the next test. Hit them in the pocket.
