The Strikers Challenge [FM09]

Damn you Mani, you are late and I have already started. Would've been nice to have you in but I've already played a few days and there are some offers for the sign-ups. Too much hassle going back. Sorry mate :)

Young Welsh superstar signs for Leeds

Welsh youngster Rhys Williams has put pen to paper with League One side Leeds United just days after being placed in the Welsh national squad. The 18 year old has been touted as the Welsh version of Michael Owen, and will be keen to earn a regular starting spot in the Leeds first team.

Williams told the press that he was delighted to be part of the setup at Leeds and hoped he could help take them back to the Championship.

Lee Payne to try his luck at Leicester

League One side Leicester City have signed young English striker Lee Payne on a two-year contract worth ?2,300 per week. Lee Payne has won medals for the U18 England Indoor Athletics Championships in 100m and 200m sprint, but has finally fullfilled his aim of making it as a professional footballer.

Italian Serie B side Vicenza pick up Italian star

Vicenza have signed 18 year old Italian striker Troy Lerana on a three-year contract at ?2,200 per week. Italian scouts believe Lerana to have the potential to be one of the greatest strikers in the world, and so he will be hoping for a strong few seasons at Vicenza before being spotted by the bigger clubs.

I'm happy with that. Only just started as a professional, and I'm already worth more than Ross McCormack!

Who's the most valuable player on that list? Oh, is it me? Surely not a Welsh player! :p

Great news, looking forward to starting for Leeds and taking them back to the Championship, and especially looking forward to World Cup Qualifiers with Wales. Hopefully my boot can lift Wales against Russia and Germany.

Lee, You'll be disappointed to know that you chose Leicester over Norwich. Norwich actually offered you a contract :p

All part of the plan. Norwich are too good for me at this stage. When I'm a bit older and have scored 100 goals for Leicester, I'll move to City.

Few more news headlines:

'Robbie Campbell joins Championship side Charlton Athletic'

'Siddhartho K. Martinez will play with Spanish side Lorca in 2008/9'

'Cypriot side Anorthosis pick up young Edmonds'

Trouble is I cannot see the fixtures (Apart from friendlies and European Comps) of Lorca or Anorthosis. I'm hoping your stats will still appear despite not being able to see the leagues you play in. If not then it's tough luck and you'll be stuck with zero points until you move.

'Jack Teague joins Payne and Williams in League One with Colchester'

'Charlton's Robbie Campbell moves on season-long loan to Belgium side Germinal Beerschot'

'Matt Coll joins Australian Olympic squad for Bejing'

Some stats: Troy Lerana bags a hattrick in his first friendly, and scores two more in the following two games - Campbell scores five in four for Charlton, including a hattrick vs Brechin - Williams missed first few friendlies with a thigh injury.

If you wish to look, here are the standings table. Friendlies have not been included in points so everyone is on nil 'pois'.

The Valley is actually not too far away from my house so I don't mind the location. But Charlton??? You've got to be taking the piss! :p

And then I'm loaned out to a dodgy team somewhere in Belgium! :p

Lol bit of a mixed bag here. Matt in the Olympic squad despite not playing for a team...and James at Analthorsis. :p

Well Lorca Deportiva it is. I actually remember them well because they are a very newly formed club. They had knocked out one of the big teams in the Copa del Rey once as well I remember, Deportivo la Coruna or Malaga, one of them not very sure.

Anyways need to ply my trade in the lower divisions and earn my way to the top. Jack, ensure that I never come anywhere near Catalunya.

I have a proposal for those in clubs that I am not able to track. I will sign you for a random team in the lowest division available, in Spain for SK.Martinez and England for J.Edmonds? I can also terminate your loan if you wish Robbie and put the Aussies in teams in England. It will make it less realistic but it will mean you won't be stuck on zero points for a season and maybe longer...
