I am so *********** off! our team lost on the weekend in local 2nd grade due to what has to be the most stupid law in cricket, we batted first and scored a mild 154, however we had them 8/122 with one of their openers batting with a hopeless number 10 and an even more hopeless number 11 to follow, so long story short - their opener skies one towards the boundary but it doesnt fly all the way, it gets caught in the outfield about 10meters in from the boundary markers and our fielder runs around like an idiot in celebration and runs over the boundary

to high five a family member, so ofcorse what does the umpire do, RULE A SIX

... I can understand if the catch was taken mid air and he landed over the boundary, that would be fair enough, but he had taken about 7 steps before he went over the boundary, the batsman was already walking and was instructed to come back! needless to say they went on to win the match. Now how horribly ridiculous is that rule, seriously, how does he deserve a six for that, the fielder had the ball under control and only ran over the boundary to celebrate, this rule is a joke, a fielder close to the batsman can catch it and throw it up into the air instantly and sure enough that IS out, but if your near the boundary legally you can catch it, run for about 100m if you wish to, step over the boundary and oops, sorry lads, NOT OUT! What a stupid frigging rule! it should be a standard rule across the board, hold it for 2 seconds, or take 2 steps, then its out.
.. Just wanted to complain
