We have all seen fast bowlers ending their overs and going to thridman, fine leg, long-off, long-on to field for next over. It makes sense as it gives them much needed breather before the start of their next over.

But is there a fast bowler/s in particular who bowls his over and doesn't field at deep positions (thirdman, fine-leg, long-on, long-off... etc close to boundary)??

All I can think of are medium pace bowlers like McMillan, Styris, Ganguly etc... but not any genuine fast bowlers... Do you guys think of anyone???

Now that I am thinking hard. Kapil at later stages of his career also fielded in slips.

It has some logic attached to it as well.

As almost all "fast" bowlers would have good arms it makes sense to send them to deep positions.

Dont know what others feel but I feel this way .

Have you seen some fast bowlers field? They may have strong arms, but good arms?

May be stereotypical but most fast bowlers are not brilliant fielders. Apart from this, a fielding position in the deep allows them to get a breather instead of being involved in the game at every stage. They only have to field the ball if it is not picked up by an infielder.

I think this trend is changing now. Bowlers nowadays are becoming good fielders too.

Ntini is just an extremely fit person. He is one of the few 'athletes' in the game. :D Look at our stock of fast bowlers--Nehra, Zaheer, Balaji, Irfan. They break down every 2-3 series.

True... Didn't notice that :) and so did Waqar Younis too when he was the captain.

Yeah, Fast bowlers who are captains field in midfield in general.

And they in turn were copying Imran Khan. He always planted himself at mid-on or mid-off to control everything and would not move from there, sometimes even when the ball was passing right by him.
