Looks like they are using hawk eye fully. The Nine version gives guidelines that we can see. Don't know what Sky Sports NZ one looks like.

^Yes. GREAT :happy That's a good move. There are no arguments about umpires judgment now, it's all based on a pretty successful Hawkeye system.

Then I only have one complaint: to use it for all the dismissals anyway. Another reason for this is that the batsman doesn't have the benefit of seeing himself. So for LBWs for eg. he has to 'feel' whether an LBW is close or not and then decide to challenge. Most of the time he'll be relying on his partner I'd guess.

I also think the teams should be allowed to see one replay on the big screen before they decide whether to challenge or not. Just to give them a better idea and it would only take 10 seconds.

But mostly I really like the system.

That would be the ideal way but it takes a while before it gets going. As we saw today with Ponting, if the team doesn't refer it then we still have the bad decisions that we are trying to get rid of. But with more games, I'm sure the teams will get use to picking what is out and what is 50/50.

The West Indies really abused it today. A couple of outrageous challenges.....

well there is a user and there is an abuser.
just like women

WTF are you on about? I understand you don't like women and prefer the company of men, but that is no reason to be disrespectful to them.

No way, Gayle is one of the coolest cats around in cricket.

I can't remember the full story but I'm pretty sure it was during one of those ICC world XI games and Gayle was playing. He was asked where he fielded and his reply was "First slip, nowhere else".

Such a laid back character :laugh

Video system was quite effective in this match. It was a good thing it was used because it also highlighted two mistakes in the system.

- The no ball issue.
- The whole 50% impact charade.

TBH, I don't really have a perspective on it...
I would prefer it if maybe the batsmen just says they got an edge on it or something when they were given out, and is all they check is if the ball hit the bat on hot spot.
I don't think it should be used to determine weather the ball was 1cm inside/outside leg stump, that should just be down to the umpire in the middle.
It would probably just be better with one challenge, and that would avoid what I was saying above.
