New Zealand innings falling apart as Hamish goes
New Zealand are losing wickets regularly now, and their innings is falling apart right at the end. Good fightback by India, and the Kiwiz chances of getting 280 are now dashed.

New Zealand FOW 244-8
Hamish Marshall c VVS Laxman b Irfan Pathan 18(19)

Next Batsman - Daryl Tuffey
The tail is exposed now, and India can have the Kiwiz all out.

Well, as I said earlier, New Zealand are crumbling.

Vettori needs to get most of the strike, as he's the only player remaining who can bat.

Great comeback by India, Newzealand were in an excellent position at one stage.

Pathan picks up another wicket
Irfan Pathan, after being hit for two fours by Daniel Vettori, comes back to dismiss the other batsman, Daryl Tuffey.

Daryl Tuffey c VVS Laxman b Irfan Pathan 3(6)

Next Batsman - Shane Bond
Last Batsman in for the Kiwiz, Shane Bond. He has been known to hit the ball cleanly.

Couldnt agree more mate. And Vettori did take most of the strike in this Pathan over, and hit him for two fours. But Tuffey did a foolish mistake to go for the shot making himself, losing his wicket in the process. Now the Kiwiz might be bowled out without facing the entire 50 overs. This is the 49th over on btw.

Thanks for posting mate!!

EDIT: Shane Bond has smacked his first delivery into the stands for six!

No problem..

LOL, Irfan Pathan must've relaxed a bit too much! Come on Shane Bond!

Five for Pathan
Bond hit the first ball well, but missed the second one completely. And with this wicket Irfan Pathan gets a five for in the innings. He was a bit expensive though, going for 58 runs in his 9.5 overs.

Oh well, there go my hopes of New Zealand getting 270

Brilliant bowling by Pathan, I hope Bond can do the same for New Zealand!

50 over update

New Zealand 261 all out (48.5 Overs)
Nathan Astle 95(97)
Craig McMillan 66(73)

Irfan Pathan 5-58
Ajit Agarkar 2-65

A good comeback in the last ten overs has seen India restrict New Zealand to 261. At one stage when Craig McMillan was scoring runs all over the park, it looked like the Kiwiz were heading for a score of 290+. But after McMillan's wicket, the Kiwiz suffered a collapse, and were eventually bowled out for 261. Irfan Pathan picked up three wickets in the final overs, to finish with figures of 5-58.

A five wicket haul for Irfan Pathan

Craig McMillan hit three huge sixes in his innings of 66

Partnerships Chart

Well the two major partnerships in that innings was the one between Astle and Fleming worth 68 runs, and Astle and McMillan worth 91 runs. The third highest partnership was between McMillan and Hamish Marshall, of 42 runs. But after McMillan's dismissal, wickets started falling rather too quickly for the Kiwiz liking.

Nathan Astle Spider

Nathan Astle top scored for New Zealand with 95 runs from 97 balls. Despite missing out on a hundred, it was a fine performance from him. His innings included 15 fours and 2 sixes.

So runs on either side of the wicket but much more on the offside.

India needs 262 runs to win from 50 Overs at 5.24 runs per over

India's reply coming up next. Vital points for grab here, and both teams will want to have winning start in this Videocon Cup 2005.

Nice bowling by Pathan there, interesting to see how India reply to a testing score such as that!
