Vincent Says Cairns Forced Him To Fix Games During the Now Defunct ICL

Its actually fking hilarious if you read what Vincent has to say -

"I was under instructions to fix," he said. "When you are underperforming you just play dead-bat shots, play more defensive, you can control your scoring tempo but the actual art of getting out is actually quite hard.

"One of the easiest ways is to get run out, hit the ball to a fielder and keep running. Try to get stumped. Miss a straight ball.

"I didn't master the art of getting out very well. Cairns suggested if I was playing club cricket in England I practise the art of getting out."

The Art of getting out ... I mean wow, didn't know its an art.

Not at all hilarious, clearly, he means the 'art' of getting out knowingly in a way that no one suspects him.

This is quite demoralizing for the honest cricketers and cricket as a whole. This is why the cash rich leagues should not be allowed to take over the dates of international calender.

Oh yes its hilarious. Its a line that belongs in a show like Seinfeld with Kramer saying it to someone with the usual Kramer conviction, with which he undertakes all his doomed endeavors for the most part.

Also that explaination is un-necessary, its obvious what he was trying to say, only he chooses his words poorly and hence its funny in a sad way, that a batsmen is trying to find ways of getting out without it looking suspicious.

Lastly I don't know what your bone with T20 leagues paying money to players is. The only reason T20 leagues should exist is so that players can earn well. No one is saying that T20 leagues offer brilliant cricket consistantly, however they do serve a purpose and that is to ensure that cricketers earn well. For that reason and that reason alone, I support T20 leagues as I want cricketers, even average ones to have a good earning.

The problem is not with T20 leagues paying the cricketers money, the problem is idiots like Vincent and Cairns and Sreesanths of the world are not satisfied with the salaries they are getting from the leagues and want to dupe the fans and the league alike by fixing matches to get even more money.

There is no point in cricketers playing the victim here, they are paid well anyway, without them having the need to fix the games. Take the enormous salary you are getting and move on. Don't fking fix matches.

Well I'm sad that things are looking so bad for a cricketer of Cairns' stature - a second generation test player - but I'm glad to hear that about Fleming.

Brendon McCullum tells of Chris Cairns spot-fix approaches | Cricket | ESPN Cricinfo

Whoa well if McCullum saying this, Cairns is almost sure to be found guilty now.[DOUBLEPOST=1444929305][/DOUBLEPOST]
How so?

I can actually remember watching some of these ICL matches on Zee TV here in the UK...those were the days :lol

That was the specific game Lou Vincent (as @Chewie showed in above video) referred to in testimony where he tried to get out for less than 20, didn't & Cairns threatened to hurt him. One has to wonder if other players involved in this game might be questioned in future.

The ICL, the IPL...international cricket and sport in general, it's such a sorry state of affairs.
