The Opening of the Tournament​

An event was held to declare the official opening of the tournament. All the players, including the captains and the vice-captains attended the event.

The captain and the vice-captain of each side were called up on the stage and were asked to sign on the fair-play board which means that they will play the game like a true sportsman and will play fair. The board was titled as "Play Hard, Play Fair"

Later, these four guys were asked to say a few words on the competition, their side, their plans and what their expectations are.

Shane Warne: The competition is very good and I am really excited about it. Will play in a white kit with Cricket Australia's logo on the chest after a long time. It is an emotional moment for me and now that I have got an opportunity of doing something for my country again, I promise that I won't let anyone down. Brendon Hedger and I had some differences earlier but they all seem to be sorted out. He did a pretty good job in the draft, I feel better than the opposition to give me a strong and a well-balanced side.

Brendon Hedger: As Warne said, the differences between us are now over and we are just focusing on the tournament. The 5 day matches series is very important to us. For me, who is playing professional cricket for the first time, it seems as if I am going to represent my nation in the Ashes. This is that big for me. Our side looks very good, perfect blend of batsmen and bowlers. We expect a lot from Riz Khan, our front-line spinner. I feel he would be the most instrumental and important player in our side.

Michael Vaughan: First of all, I would like to thank each one of you who came here to this event and made it special for all of us. I would like to give a special Thanks to Callum for helping me out build a strong team, and our side now looks very good. We have a lot of batsmen, and this will be very important. A strong batting side always has the upper-hand, and we have that. I am pretty happy with my side and certainly looking forward to the tournament. I would also like to wish Shane Warne, Brendon Hedger and their entire side best of luck. They'll need it.

Callum Gray: Thank you Michael. Yeah, I am pretty satisfied with my team. As Mike said, our batting unit is very powerful and has the strength to over-power the strongest of the bowling sides. I am little concerned about our bowling unit, not specifically the bowlers, but for the all-rounders. We have no pacer who can bat as well, except Collingwood. Sahil Khan and Varun Rustagi have been taking some bowling lessons from Broad and Anderson and we are looking forward in grooming at least one of them into a batting all-rounder. And yes, I am certainly looking forward to the tournament. I will be giving my 100% and hopefully, my services help the side.
