To most people arguing about Wasim being the greatest fast bowler of all time have probably never been to the sub-continent to play a cricket match. It's fair enough. But believe me, to be a fast bowler here requires a donkey's labour, a tigers courage and the returns of a peasant or a farmer that work hard all day so that people in the cities can eat. I've had the pleasure of leading a league cricket team in Bengal and I've seen fast bowlers my age (30) who can't play anymore (injuries) and kids a lot younger on the verge of finishing.

What Wasim Akram did, as a sheer spectacle is a sight to behold. His achievement? In India, we can shake all our trees in all the orchards of fast bowlers and we found one in twenty years. Pakistan need to simply go to any orchard they like and they'll find left arm quicks fallen on the ground ready to rip.
