WC2007: Super 8

Didn't know he was going! I liked having an unfit physio!

Dean Conway should race that Sri Lankan physio. Vaughan played beautifully. He looked ever so fluent and comfortable at the crease.

But, the question is, 'Was it worth the wait?' or, maybe the even bigger question is, 'Will he do it again?'.

Find out, next week on Worrisome England's one-day woes..........

That's not the first time Vaughan's made a vital 80 odd in a ODI. Considering his only opened the batting 21 times.

Pietersen ruined the party for Lara. In a sense, KP's been doing what Lara's been doing over the last few months as to which Lara's been doing for most of his career.

How did Vaughan not get player of the match. 3 wickets at the best economy in the game and 80 runs. Thats a top all-round performance.

My thoughts exactly. Pietersen even got out when the pressure was still very much on.

I know I don't want Nixon in the England Test team, but bloody hell he deserves a go after his performances in this World Cup!

A bit of credit to Bopara as well; Helped us recover from the early wicket of Strauss.

Well said on both occasions, shame about Ravi's dismissal. Probably been one of the 3 English highlights of the tournament. Bopara, Nixon and KP.

Vaughan was brilliant yesterda, best bowler, second best batsman, but did set up the win. Never seen him play like that before. Best ODI innings, shame he couldn't get that hundred but he was seemingly running in quicksand on that single.

Plunkett was horrible yesterday. Broad did okay, certainly didn't let the side down and showed some composure at the end. Brilliant game to end two very important careers.

AAHAHA Nixons bowled by bravo WOW ODI cricket...

EDIT u beat me to it:P
And as the comentators said it reminds me of India vs West Indies, Yuvi on strike, 2 runs to win, last wicket in hand, bravo slower ball and gets Yuvi bowled:(

So does that make Broad better than Yuvi? ;)

Also, loving Joes numerous posts on Broad.

I'm just glad my faith in Vaughan paid me back a little bit. Watching him batting yesterday brought back memory of his 2002 best and I hope this is a realization that he can do it ODI's. Give him the ODI series against the Windies as a final chance; If he does well, he carries on. If he fails however, end of the road Mick.

I had an odd feeling when watching the game yesterday in the sense that I knew we were going to win once we lost Dalrymple. It meant both our form batsmen together and the Windies death bowling was weak so for the first time in a long time, I knew England were going to win a tight finish. We did a bloody good job of nearly losing it though!

Yes it was great seeing Vaughan get runs, finally! Anyone feel this was a prelude to the English summer against WI? England dealt a phsycological blow to WI and that should help them, one would think lol :)

Speaking of Dalrymple, Matt.

Anyone worked out his role?

Batsman? Spinner? Specialist Fielder?

He's one of those bits and pieces players. Horrible one day record with the ball since we left England.

When are England going to realise they are not quick? Vaughan taking a quick single to the West Indies best fielder? Dalrymple taking a quick single to mid-on? Okay

Just a bit more luck against Sri Lanka and a bowl first against South Africa we would have been playing Australia on Wednesday.

What did you expect :p cracking shot to finish up :D He bowled better than his figures showed and had his first over not gone for 11 then he would have looked much better. I felt he should have bowled more but I suppose Vaughany was bowling well. Found this interesting- http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/606/A21949077
bit harsh on JD but those stats were shocking
