Life in prison usually gets shortened to 20 years, because of "good behavior" or something. They're convicts, they shouldn't get prizes for not killing their bunkmates!
Either that or the government simply do not have the money to jail these guys for so long. I read somewhere that it costs the US Government in excess of $90,000 USD a year to jail a convict.
These cruel people simply do not have the right to live.
