Which bat?

If anyone is an expert on bats could they plz tell me which would be the best for me and my brother.

My brother (a 2nd XI level batsman) : 6ft2, 22 yrs old, right handed batsman, reasonable strength, not a graceful player, but one who powers the ball...either with an ugly hoik behind square on the leg side or with a slight more graceful straight drive over the in field for four. He is extremely poor full outside his off stump.

Me: 5ft3,14yrs old, left handed, not amazingly strong but wont mind a heavy bat, I also favour the ugly hoik behind square on the leg side, however, I time a straight and cover drive very well aswell as the flick off my legs. My weakness is anything short above 60mph on my body from right arm over.

Any help would be hugely appriciated

Thanks in advance

Your brother should try a Kooka, probably a beast or Kahuna.

You could use a GN Predator, because if you time it right with one of them it will be a long way :).

Thank you, the speed of that responce was uncanny and to name a specific bat was so gr8.

If you are in a dilema of similar proportions I'll be happy to help...

a bat is just a bat. it all about your batting skills and techniques

You'll have to go to a store to see which one suits. The weight of the bat during the backlift is important. The bat should be nice and light yet durable with thick chunky edges.

well ive got ihsan king.and im not really to botherd about the bat.its actuaaly the batsman.e.g. if u give some pro your bat he will still play well.so its the plyer that matters not the bat.

I agree but just use a bat based on preference-go to a big cricket shop and ask the people there to give you a choice of 3 or 4 bats and pick what you want. If you find the shop too expensive or want to order online, then decide which bat you like most at the cricket shop and remember what it was then order it.

Well, my brother has just started work so he has a bit of spare money...

He is looking for a new bat...

AND

I usually am placed 11 just because im a good bowler although wen i do bat for skl my average is 25 (damn skl politics) and i am looking to make an impression and a suitable bat for me will help

A) Are you a good batter or poor? If you are a poor one, try getting a broader one.
B) Get one according to your height
C) Lift it in you left hand perfectly straight for 10 seconds without quivering. If you can do it, that bat is for you.

Simple enough. Brand hardly makes a difference.

5ft3, what size do you rekon that should be...

Once this is answered...let this thread die...the amount of responces are amazing...

I think the largest size is good, maybe one less. I am 5 '9, and use a size 6. So a size 5 would work for you, and size 6 for your bro...

At five three you'll need a Harrow or a Short Handle bat. It all depends on your technique- do u crouch or do u stand upright? You have to be comfortable- we cant fit you out.

Buy SS viv richards...superb bat for hard hitters

Since, GN predator seems to b the unimous choice for me...I'll try and get one of those...

I might make a poll as to whether my brother needs an SS Viv Richards or a Kookabura Kahuna/Beast.

Ive made a poll for my bro...which bat should he have?

Thanks on his behalf
