I think the largest size is good, maybe one less. I am 5 '9, and use a size 6. So a size 5 would work for you, and size 6 for your bro...
I think you are wrong unless the size numbers are different in UAE. A size 6 is very short. I am 5ft 6 (probably end up at 5"9) and I use a short handle MRF Blazer. I used to have a Harrow, but that is now too short for me.

When I had a choice, it was 1-6. 6 was the largest. So I guess the sizes are different with brand. It was a CA bat, used it for a while but it is to heavy for me. But it was the perfect height. Got a Hero Honda, but it was off the street so no size, but it is the same as the CA.

Yeh, completely different over here.

Size 4
Size 5
Size 6
Harrow
Short Handle
Long Handle/Full Size

C'mon guys plz vote

Long Handle/Full Size

I don't think brand makes a difference. Honestly. As long as its as heavy as you like, and your size.

As a bowler, I use a light bat, because I'm looking to push singles and keep the other player on strike. Mine's a GN Longbow, and its a great bat. Light pick up, but still a decent middle.

Ive got a feeling I might use a GN, although the thinness may not comply with my hoik i might hav to develop my front foot shots better

if you want to drive then get a low middle bat eg GN Powerbow, if you want to play backfoot get a middle middle bat:p eg GN Fusion and if you want power for both get a GN Predator, thats GN brands, for Kookaburra id say the belta is frontfont and kahuna back and beast both, Good luck with your decision and try to get grade 1 english willow, it makes all the difference and most grains possible

If u need to ask others what bat to get, then u know little about cricket bats. As many ppl have said in this thread, go down to a cricket store, like e4u, test out the bats and then pick the one which feels best, always try it before you buy it.

Everybody is different...
He's right, telling a 5'3'' bloke that a long handle is ok is just silly.

Contrary to a lot of people's (but not all) views, I'd be inclined to recommend
a bat that is as light as possible, even as small as possible for a short person, without being wasteful of your strength. Bat speed is more important than potential power, because the middle of the bat will do much of the work for you.

A faster bat allows you to react to ball movement quicker. This is favoured by the Aussie openers Hayden and Langer. Neither of them use heavy bats, Langer I believe uses a bat that weighs 2'4".
