Well, what do you guys think? I personally feel that the dumb Aussie selectors might continue on with him for a bit longer, which shouldn't happen at all. North's been under-performing massivly in the Sheffield Shield with no big scores at all.

I'd go with Smith for sure at the moment. If it wasn't for the No. 6 spot then I'd go with Hughes, but I'd fancy him more as an opener.

What's with the assumptions that higher order batsmen can't bat lower?

I think it works the other way around, I can't see a problem with Hughes batting at 6.

Surely if someone is dropping out of that middle order then White should be the next one in the team? He's shown with his ODI batting that he can get the job done when he's given responsibility.

I'd go Smith or White, both are much better options than Marcus atm, Smith is piling up the runs at shield and Cam has really matured this year.

Hughes in to open with Watson, drop Katich to number 4. Watson, Hughes, Ponting, Katich, Clarke, Hussey and Haddin is a fantastic batting line-up.

how about Mark Cosgrove? was good for Glammy last year, just needs to lose a few pounds and he's a shoe in!

North should be dropped but wont. But if he was i would also regretably drop Hussey. Then Move Clarke to 4, drop Katic to 5, Hughes open, White or Marsh 6 then you have a young test team that will be competitive and be around for a long time.

By watching your avvy it came to me.... maybe Shaun Marsh?
But White looks good replacement.
