Can anyone make some suggestions as to which one to go for? It needs to have a response time of 8ms or less and a ratio 500:1 or better. I'm fine with 1280 by 1024 for max resolution, anything more and my GPU will struggle. Also, has anyone experienced any problems getting games to run (and look) correctly on a widescreen monitor? It will be used mainly for gaming, with occasional DVD viewing.

I'm looking to spend less than ?200 if possible.

Quality of LCD Moniters is not as good as of Standerd ones.

Thanks for that! It does look like a great monitor, especially for that price! I usually run games at 1024 or 1280 resolution, will I be able to reduce the monitor's resolution to these settings without any graphical problems? Also, has anyone had any problems playing games on widescreen monitors?

You will not have any problems reducing the resolution and the picture will still look good. It's just like any other monitor - you don't have to play at the maximum resolution.

All new games these days support widescreen aspect ratios these days (and the ones that don't won't sell). At the moment, I've got my PC plugged into a 32" widescreen LCD TV and it looks amazing.

Hope that clears it up.

This monitor is awesome. One of the guys I work with has one and he says it's the best around at that price. And he should know (as it's his job to know ;))

Your not trying to get extra commision are you there BF, or are you just trying to plug the workplace ;) Either way Play are a good site :p

No, I don't work on commission. My job has nothing to do with sales but I do know what many of the best products in our catalogue are. And that's one of them. ;)

Hi, can you tell me the best Image and Contrast ratio a monitor should have for games and DVDs? I've found one @PC World

Product Information

# 19" Viewable Screen Size
# Widescreen
# 8msec Response Rate
# 300cd/m2 Brightness
# 500:1 Contrast Ratio
# 1440x900 Maximum Monitor Resolution
# 391 mm Height
# 451 mm Width
# 197 mm Depth
# 4.5 kg Weight (With Stand)

for only ?129.99. Is this a good monitor for the price?
Do widescreens need a faster response time, or should 8ms be ok?

In my opinion, the contrast, resolution, and response time on that monitor are all disappointing. I wouldn't settle for a monitor with a response time of greater than 5ms. And as for the contrast, that monitor I showed you does a contrast ratio of up to 3000:1 which is fantastic.

If you're that bothered about saving ?60 then fair enough but if you want a top class product then get the one I recommended. ;)
