World League - Cardif Blues [Rugby 2006]

5 points for me last game, I likey. Let's beat these cats, nothing against the animal but let's beat the team.

will post second half tonight and probably play the next game as well :)

yeah i was hoping to do it last night, just having one computer in my house its hard to get on. And they dont like it when i tell them to get off my computer they think its their right to be on there or something.

damn flatmates, probably wont be on tonight either as i wont be home. damnit.

SECOND HALF - WHAT WHAT WHAT???

Straight from the kick off Januarie takes kick off and hands it off to J.Pretorius 25m from his own line. Pretorius finds a gaping hole and easilly sprints past Dean Sherr and scores.

after 62min Sherr goes to first five, Spin goes to right wing and Barrow goes to full back. But it obviously didnt help.

Yep after 80imns and alot of pressure Pretorius slotted another penalty sealed the match to some happy Cats supporters. Posetions was close at 54-46 to the Cats but when 80 percent of the game is played in your own half you know you are going to have trouble creating scoring opourtunities. Really the Blues need to pick up the place for the next game.

The knockout round one shows some close matches but nothing too much to talk about (cause i lost)

Shame, let's bounce back boys, we are certainly a good side who can win some games if we start to play to the best of our abilities.

Week two of the division three competition begins with Cardiff taking on Worchester. Cardiff keeping the same lineup as before and Worchester putting up a strong lineup.

biswasim1.jpg

The game starts with Cardiff keeping the ball in close and building up some momentum. Then after a break from Dean Sherr from the half way for about 20m keeping possesion it really gives them some momentum. Some good close work and quick hands gets Liebenberg close to the line, but he offloads to Lomu who gets tackled and pushed back by Delport from Worchester. Biswas then picks up and charges over, in a tackle from Gomarsall and Windo. Hefler kicks the easy goal for a 7-0 lead after just over 5 mins.

After some more good forwardplay by Cardiff James Edmonds gets close to the line. Rocky sees a huge gap and just picks up the ball and falls over for an easy try. After 12 minutes of pressure the score is 14-0 to Cardiff after Heffler converts another easy try.

15m after Worcester finally securing the kick off. The big prop Horsman charges to the line and gets close. Gomarsall pickes up and go, gets tackled but is able to put the ball over the line and scores. Drahm kicks the goal and the score is 14-7.

25min From 10m in own half Worcester doing some hot potato passes gets the ball out to Hinshelwood on the left wing. He runs easily around Edwards and then guns it for the corner and out paces Sherr. He runs around and scores under the posts and squares up the scores at 14-all.

hightacklesm1.jpg

After a high tackle by Vaili in front of the posts Hefler kicks it over to gain the lead back to get it to 17-14.

From deep inside their own half and with the time running out on the first half Cardiff throw to Lomu who has a clear run with the back three deep. Lomu runs forward and around Tucker then does a huge side step on Delport and scores under the post to put up a huge cheer from the crowd. the score moves to 24-14. But just on the half time wistle Cardiff are called for offside and Worcester opt for the goal. 24-17 half time.

With the half time up Spin comes on for Heffler but moves to full back. Sherr moves up to first five. Not much scoring in the second half but with only 7mins on the clock Sherr kicks over a penalty for an off side. But right on full time a big run by Tucker of 25m goes over to score by the posts with Drahm kicking the goal over. Just too little too late. 27-24 final score.

So two wins out of two with the first game a bit of a blow out keeps the Blues on top of the table, with the Cats and Traviso. But the bonus point keeps them ahead by 1 point. The next match will be against Ulster who are langishing in the middle of the table.

The trading window has just opened up as well with the Chiefs trading S.Anesi for S.Kole of Clermont and Edinburgh trading Stephenson for Vaili of Worcester. News for the Blues trading is that they are looking, but not too seriously right now. Lets just make sure that the players play to their potential.

Well, a penalty, so I keep up my scoring, let's hope that we can keep this up, good to get a win on the board!

will play the next game tonight, with a bit of a change to the starting line-up as well.

Also will be looking through the trades to see who is worth getting rid of.

Cardiff Vs Ulster

Cardiff made two changes for this game, with Hefler being demoted to the bench. Dean Sherr was moved from full back to first five and Chez Spin got moved off the bench to take full back.

4min - Chez Spin from deep inside his own 22 tries a kick accross the field but easily caught by Wallace for Ulster who finds alot of space. He comes up to Chez Spin and draws him and Ross Mathers into a tackle but passes quicly to Howe who scores in the corner. The kick is missed though score 5-0

AFter winning a lineout from Ulster 22 Blues use a set play and Edmonds ends up getting tackled just out from the goal line. Humphries tries to clear it from inside his own goal except he kicks it into the post and Dean Sherr dives over for an easy try just beating Avroneel Biswas to the ball. Kick missed 5-5

21min- After a winning Scrum inside the Blues use a set play but Maggs disrupts it for Ulster by tackling Sherr just after he passes it which cuts off the wrap and Liebenberg has to take it himself. Liebenberg brushers off Steinmetz draws Wallace and passes it wide to.... No-one. James Edmonds picks up the ball about 35m from the line and sprints for a try in the corner 10 - 5, kick missed.

29min - From a scrup Humphreys goes for a speculative drop goal 40m out from the goal. It goes wide and Edmonds ends up taking it on the full just 10m from his own line. He gets an easy run up to the half way where Howe and Wallace miss tacles letting him get away and with only forwards chasing from the half way line no-one had a chance of catching him. 15-5 miss goal.

half time - 15 -5

With 3 tries to 1 you would expect the Blues to have most of the possesion which they did but their tries have been a bit opurtunistic and only hold 32 percent of the territory. They have had some very sloppy ball and Ulster have done well to upset a few of the set plays that have been set up. Also the kickign from Sherr has been a bit dodgy, just finding his feet in the first five position. Spin has also missed a couple of catches and played a bit patchy at full back so who knows what happened there.

A quick throw in by Edmonds to Rocky on the half way end up to quick hands to Ross Mathers who runs around Wallace and gets tacled by Frost on the line ans scores in the corner. kick taken by Sherr finally. 22 -5

my.php

Good forward play by Ulster results in a pick and drive try by Campbell scores a try in the tackle of rocky kick is successfull 22-12.

With not much stopages from the 50min mark to 75th minute (none) there were no substitutions made.

With 4 tries to two 1 try in the each half the numbers started to get a bit closer. possesion and territory got pretty close. A bonus point win for Cardiff will help them later on in the comp.

Trades -
Edinburgh traded P.George for S. Marsden of Bristol
Clermont dtaded P.Vigoruous for R.Moore of Ulster.

J.Lomu has 4 tries and is 3rd overall for the league leaders and has the only hat-trick so far this season. In Division 3 Lomu, Edmonds Heffler and Spin are in the top 10 for tries so far this season.

Next game vs Brescia join me for that.

(sorry i am not sure exactly how i want to do this story yet, so just a score summary so far seams to be the way to go)

why isnt my pics going?
