Post Line-ups World T20: The greatest final in cricket history

Some good games coming up for Round 3! I'll tag everyone here (and DM PresidentEvil) and if you want to change your lineups, please let me know before midnight Saturday AEST (basically let me know before Sunday in your time zone)

  • Scotland @PresidentEvil take on PNG @Parth D. The equation is simple for both teams: PNG will qualify with a win and if other results go their way, while Scotland will qualify with a win or if other results go their way.
  • Ireland @Yash. face Oman @Na Maloom Afraad. Oman will want to finish off what has been the only winless campaign (including warmups) so far with at least some pride, while Ireland have to win to get in barring Scotland flogging PNG.
  • Bangladesh @Life Warrior and Namibia @Yash. face off in a tame game. The Banglas are already qualified while Namibia are out, due to the makeup of the other Group B fixture. That said there's still quite a bit at stake; Namibia want to show they belong at this level (tbf, their batting has already shown some of this), while Bangladesh want the easier draw that comes with topping Group B.
  • But the big match of the group is Sri Lanka @Till Valhalla against Netherlands @Umair7. For both sides, it's win and they're in. If it's a tie I have to do complex math. SL will be the favourites but Holland have both good batting form and a desire to make only 10 of the 12 Super12 teams full members (remember, Zimbabwe didn't even make this stage!)

The Scots had quite a comedown from their previous highs with some good PNG bowling and struggles through the middle order restricting them to 8/117.

Fortunately for Ireland's future participation, Scotland were just as good, Josh Davey grabbing the headline figures as PNG crash to 104 despite good efforts from Vala and Charles Amini.

SCO 8/117 (20)
PNG 104 (18.1)
Scotland win by 13 runs
MOTM: Josh Davey

Again Josh Little only used one over. But Ireland didn't need him to restrict Ireland to 106. Simi Singh was the main factor.

For eighteen balls, Kevin O'Brien turned the clock back to 2011. A steady innings by Paul Stirling then got Ireland home comfortably.

OMA 8/106 (20)
IRL 1/110 (16.2)
Ireland win by 9 wickets
MOTM: Kevin O'Brien

Scotland (3-0-0) and Ireland (2-1-0) progress to the next round.

Finally, a middle order turned up! Najmul Hossain Shanto was the best of the four but they all played their part in setting the highest total of the competition to date.

Stephen Baard continued his hot tournament but he got literally no support.
