Worth Buying after patches??

Ankit, What would you say the jagged edges are?

Many users have probably answered your question. But I must mention that the game in it's out of the box state isn't exactly entertaining. You need to pump up those physics sliders to have a realistic feel of the game. I honestly don't understand why BigAnt shipped the game with such physics settings where the ball doesn't even carry to the keeper and even well timed shots barely cross the 30 yard circle. But then many of BigAnt's decision are incomprehensible.

It depends what you're after. If you are only interested in gameplay, and playing casual matches for fun against other people, or on your own, then it is a no brainer that you should get it. However, the statistics are somehow still appalling; in career mode, the stats are often wrong-not recording 100's and 50's and giving you the wrong average, which if you're playing as a batsman, just makes you want to stop playing. As well as this, there are no earned stats in the game, so playing anything like tours or competitions has no relevance except for if you want to play a casual game, which it all kind of boils down to really.

If you primarily want to play casual matches then Yes. But if you want to purchase the game to play career mode then my answer would be No. Stats are all messed up in career mode making the mode unplayable as far as I'm concerned.

There are other modes...

I was a huge fan of DBC 14 but was put off purchasing DBC 17 after negative feedback on this forum. After 5 patches is it worth picking up? Is the batting better, with 360 degree shots and cover drives? I loved batting in 14.

I do prefer DBC14 far much better than BDC17. I purchased the game and even after the latest patch, I just can't get a satisfaction from it. While batting did improve with the patches, but the "feel" of the game is just outright boring. The commentators put you to sleep, the fielders run in "somewhat" slow motion and the game dynamics are far less effective that DBC14.

In summary - DBC14 is a superior game in terms of entertainment over DBC17. Still love playing DBC14!!

I second this. As a second iteration, the gameplay seems to be well below par.

If you can somehow get your hands on free demo somehow I'd recommend checking it out fist. I like the game overall but it has it's issues. If you're not a 'career mode' person and just play casually, I would suggest sticking with your 14 copy if the rosters can be updated. At the price point it might not be worth it, but that's just my opinion.

EDIT: Do note though that as was said earlier, even career mode has its issues like stats but overall the ability to pick your own lineup once you become captain is a good addition that wasn't there in the fixed lineups for 14.

If there was any indication of further patches I would be inclined to say yes, but as it stands right now I would strongly recommend sticking to your 14 copy.

I don't get why the game is still £45+ in the UK? Most top games lower in price within a few months or so...

@WizardOfOz because big ant are a smaller business, and games are only released every few years, the game holds its price for a long time, otherwise they wouldn't be able to afford the next iteration

Just been reading about the Career Mode stats bugs. That's pretty shocking after 4 patches....

Maybe so, but they can attract many more people to the franchise if they lower the price at least 6 months down the line. This would be good for people who are unsure if they want to splash full price for a game they have heard concerns/doubts about. Again, this would help in the long term for future iterations.

What sliders would you recommend we change to get the carry to the wicket keeper realistic etc?

Here are my Physics Settings. I generally play on Legend with Bowling Difficulty at Hardest and Batting Difficulty at Medium. I'm getting plenty of realistic games in Career and Team modes.

As somebody had suggested you may try changing the Pace Bowling Revolutions slider to adjust the cutters if I'm not wrong.

I think worth is very relative. How much do you normally spend on entertainment? I can easily spend the $60 on a Saturday night out with the wife for 2 movie tickets and a dinner. Hey, sometimes it is even more than $60. That's for 4-5 hours of time at $12/hour.

If I buy the game instead, I get to play it and enjoy that. My wife gets to do her own things while I am playing and not bugging her. It's a win-win for us. I have over 30 hours in the game so far and it is only going to go up. That is $2/hour. I say it is totally worth it. I think I will end up around 60-90 hours before I really stop playing anymore.

It is your $60. Do what you want with it.
Since I bought the game in late December I probably have spent 125+ hours playing this

Bowling is the best department You can enjoy , With smart AI .... Game play Thumps up .

Next iteration will be in 2020 .... Still lot of time left .
