Worth to Modify Ashes Cricket 2009?

Finally I have got some free time so I was thinking to make some AC mods but my question is that is it worth to modify? Do you guys still play AC? Do you guys needed patches (except gameplay) for AC? So worth to spend time on modding Ashes Cricket 2009? If yes, then which patches you want except kits, bats (which are made by SRK, Kabook). I dont want to make bats, kits etc because I always wanted to mod those which are not made by anyone. (See my C07 Thread for proof ;))

Waiting for your Response

I'm sure plenty of people still play AC, I think its worth making mods.
Stadium mods would be nice, but not sure we can do that yet, as would faces, but not sure we can do those either.:doh
Still, nice to have you on board.:)

I can get my theory of Xbox modding to work, I would use them

Absolutely yes its worth to modify ashes as next COMMERCIAL cricket game is abt a year away and taoc is unpredictable although alpha may release soon but main game will take time i you had done some adboards now u can post the dds files And you do these
@Adbaords(you already have done some)
@Ropes
@Crowds( no one has noticed:spy but they are in(gdata.wad/global.texpack/characters/bodies/models/crowd/maps/crowd_white_(male or female)
@Stumps
@except that there is not much more in big editor 0.1

If you can give me adboard location in big editor then I can release because the adboard files which I have found are not changing and as AbBh said it contains in stadium.model so we have to wait for AbBh to release next version so I can release it.

ITS DDS DXT3 type so you might have used wrong compression

I think its the board on the 1st tier( not sure)
its
stadiums/sharedtextures/signage/licensed/signage.texpack
and
stadiums/sharedtextures/signage/unlicensed/signage.texpack
and you did not reply about other things specialy :spycrowd:spy
:happy:happy

Only thing worthwhile modifying in my opinion is the AI fielding settings. if someone could do that, this game might be playable again. At the moment it is unplayable because of that......................

It is not editable in big editor:( hopefully in next version of editor it is possible

If it had deep editing like C07 or even if it was not big archive then I am sure it wouldn't have take much time.

I may try my hands on AC but I doubt I will due to lack of people playing AC.

It's wastage of time to make mods for AC09. Installation of mods is a very complicated process and many new users may not be able to do it. Also, it won't be possible to upload the modified .BIG archive as it is big and will be illegal too.

Summary, It's not worth to modify Ashes Cricket 2009!

Why? We only have to import files, isn't it?

Why we need to upload full BIG archive when we can upload the single file which we have moded.

Well this is hard for newbies. It's a really complicated process. I mean, see in 07 you just paste the files in root directory without use of any external tool (except for faces). In AC09, you can't do like that. You have to use BIG editor, search for the desired file and upload it.

i think hitterman is saying replacing dds files is difficult
but now you can provide the texpack file and it will be automatically installed by import function.

Also friend you did not reply my previous post

No, I mean installing patches for AC09 is a bit complicated then installing patches for C07. Isn't it?:sarcasm

:doh

Lol, even I was also thinking the same before but AbBh cleared it. We dont need to search the file and then import it. We only need to open BIG Editor and import file. That's it

Here's AbBh reply to my question
Each file has a hash value associated to it which is a numerical representation of the file name. When you export a file its hash value is also exported along with the data. When you import this hash value is used to determine which file to replace. And the game also uses hash values to determine which file should be read.

The import feature lets you import a file(only texpack and wad for now). It automatically replaces the appropriate file, so that you won't need to search for each file and replace them.
