I actually think having a sixth team is a blessing in disguise. We have like 70+ players signed up for the leg. If we divide that by 6, a squad of 12 players is about as good as it gets. We also have 2 star players in each team. So player shortage shouldn't be an issue.

And one of the biggest gain out of this is that almost everyone in every team will get to play games (multiple) and not be benched for lack of place in the squad. I think it's a win-win situation.

Like most domestic competitions, the competition is ultimately governed by a committee largely comprised of the teams themselves, perhaps the fair thing to do is view the new team as a proposal and have the owners vote on admission or not?
