Your all time IndoPak XI

Okay so this is a much trickier task than I expected it to be at first. Let's start with one-day cricket:
  1. :ind: :bat: Sachin Tendulkar
  2. :pak: :bat: Saeed Anwar
  3. :ind: :bat: Virat Kohli
  4. :pak: :bat: Javed Miandad
  5. :ind: :wk: MS Dhoni
  6. :pak: :ar: Imran Khan
  7. :ind: :ar: Kapil Dev :c:
  8. :pak: :ar: Wasim Akram
  9. :pak: :bwl: Saqlain Mushtaq
  10. :pak: :bwl: Waqar Younis
  11. :ind: :bwl: Jasprit Bumrah
It's incredibly difficult to pick just eleven players here, and even now it's not perfectly balanced, but I think that a pace attack of Wasim, Waqar, Bumrah and Imran (with Kapil Dev in the middle overs) will more than paper over the fact that my team is missing a spinner. The pick that made me sad was Saeed Anwar over Rohit Sharma, but for how far he stood head and shoulders above his peers it kind of has to be him.

And now the Test team. I'm going to pick a 12 here, as it's a bit more conditions dependent:
  1. :pak: :bat: Hanif Mohammad
  2. :ind: :bat: Virender Sehwag
  3. :pak: :bat: Younis Khan
  4. :ind: :bat: Sachin Tendulkar
  5. :ind: :bat: Virat Kohli
  6. :pak: :ar: Imran Khan :c:
  7. :ind: :wk: MS Dhoni
  8. :ind: :ar: Ravindra Jadeja
  9. :pak: :ar: Wasim Akram
  10. :ind: :bwl: Ravichandran Ashwin (in spinning conditions)
  11. :pak: :bwl: Waqar Younis
  12. :pak: :bwl: Fazal Mahmood (in non-spinning conditions)
I've leaned in a little bit to the recency bias here in picking players like Younis Khan and Virat Kohli as batsmen over other options like Javed Miandad, Vijay Merchant or (although he represented England) Ranji. Again, there are so many great batsmen that you could pick about 20 different players in the top five before you started weakening the side.

And just for fun, a T20 XI:
  1. :pak: :bat: Babar Azam
  2. :ind: :bat: Rohit Sharma :c:
  3. :ind: :bat: Virat Kohli
  4. :ind: :wk: Rishabh Pant
  5. :ind: :ar: Yuvraj Singh
  6. :pak: :bat: Misbah ul-Haq
  7. :pak: :ar: Shahid Afridi
  8. :ind: :bwl: Amit Mishra
  9. :pak: :bwl: Saeed Ajmal
  10. :pak: :bwl: Umar Gul
  11. :ind: :bwl: Jasprit Bumrah
I know you've arguably got two anchors in the top three with Babar and Kohli, but so long as Kohli isn't captain they're both more than capable of scoring at the required rate. For the second over it was a tricky choice between Sehwag and Rohit, but ultimately I just went with someone I love to watch bat. There are also hitters from four to seven (yes, including Misbah) to catch up with the rate. I just have memories of Misbah biffing early-years T20 players all over the place, even though his overall strike rate is a bit of a yikes.

It is hard for me to pick an all-time XI but I would go for post-2010 period

:pak:Nasir Jamshed:bat: (his terrific record against India)
:ind:Rohit Sharma:bat: (I feel his performances against Pakistan are certainly underrated)
:ind:Virat Kohli:bat: (Just can't keep him out)
:pak:Umar Akmal:bat: (this is slightly controversial but in his early years he used to play well against India)
:pak:Misbah ul Haq:bat: (this is probably the best spot for him as it gives him time to settle and explode in death overs)
:ind:Suresh Raina:ar: (his contribution in 2011 WC Semi-final shows what he is capable off at the death. He could also bowl a bit)
:ind:MS Dhoni:c::wkb: (In case there is a collapse, he is the right man to steady the ship)
:ind:Bhuvneshwar Kumar:bwl: (his record against Pakistan is pretty good and also he is a handy batsman down the order)
:pak:Mohammed Amir:bwl: (he could just blow away any batting line-up on his days)
:pak:Saeed Ajmal:bwl: (he was one of the reasons for Pakistan winning the ODI series in India back in 2012)
:pak:Junaid Khan:bwl: (Another X-factor like Amir who could keep chipping in with wickets when it matters the most for his team)

TEST XI

I tried to do the flags and batsman/bowler/AR, but copy and pasting wasn't working for some reason. It worked in the England thread. I must be doing something wrong.
